First, she had placated the customers by offering them nearly two million in compensation. Then, she hired a lawyer to handle the ongoing litigation for this case. Finally, she had to tackle the issue of reopening the animal hospital.
News of the pet’s death had spread across the internet, tarnishing her original brand’s reputation. Hence, it was impossible to continue under the same name. She had to rebrand and start from scratch.
Yet, at the time, several of her stores were still under a mandatory suspension period, even though there weren’t many issues left. The impact of the situation was too significant, and the prospect of passing the regulatory agency’s review seemed indefinitely far off
One afternoon, Janelle was drenched in sweat, running on the treadmill at her home when her phone rang
Her pace slowed down as she briskly walked, simultaneously reaching for her phone to check the incoming call. The caller ID displayed Zachary’s name.
Without hesitation, she swiped to answer the call. It turned out Zachary had invited her to dinner.
Ever since their last mountain biking outing together, the two hadn’t seen each other again. On one hand, Janelle had encountered a slew of issues, and on the other hand, Zachary had to return to Azania at any time to continue his studies, leaving him with little free time.

After her workout, she was drenched in sweat. She took a shower, changed into clean clothes, and casually applied some light makeup before she was ready to head out
This time, she opted for a more casual look. Dressed in a snug white tee and wide–legged denim pants, she was a sight to behold. Her fair skin and impressive figure only amplified her beauty. Even in such a laid–back outfit, she exuded an undeniable allure.
The place they dined at was a Ferundian restaurant in the city center, a tranquil haven amidst the hustle and bustle.
Upon reaching her destination, Zachary was already waiting for her.
In this place, where the average person spent ten thousand, parking was never a problem. The servers always greeted you with a deep bow. The ambiance was tranquil and subtly lit, and through the open–plan kitchen, you could see chefs in white uniforms engaging in the elegant art of cooking. Both the environment and service were top–notch.
Guided by the waiter, the two of them were led to a private room on the second floor that had been reserved well in advance.
Interacting with this cute guy of the same age in front of her, Janelle felt rather at ease. As soon as she sat down, she started making small talk with him. “Didn’t you just go to Azania not long ago? How come you’re back already?”
“I’m about to graduate. My dad wants me to join the company early for some hands–on experience. It’s not difficult to return. home from abroad nowadays.”
As a top–tier heir to a wealthy family, Zachary was sent abroad for his education as early as middle school. He underwent years of elite education typically reserved for foreign nobility and even skipped a few grades. At a relatively young age, he had already earned his master’s degree.
“You’re quite an impressive student, to have been accepted into Middlepolis Institute of Technology,” Janelle complimented him, trying to make conversation.

Even though she had grown up abroad, her academic focus had been disrupted due to a family crisis back then. As a result, she only managed to attend an average university. World–class universities were simply out of the question for her.
Zachary let out a helpless sigh. “It’s all because of the pressure from my family. I’m the only grandson in this generation, so all eyes are on me. It’s really annoying!”
“Considering the wealth of your family, shouldn’t your parents have had more children back then?”
“Uh” With a hint of heaviness in his tone, Zachary revealed the truth to her. “Many years ago. I actually had an older sister However, when she
was ten, an unfortunate incident happened and we lost her. After that, my mother was unable to have any more children, so…”
Sorry Janelle said, realizing that she had crossed a line with her question.
“Don’t worry, it’s been almost twenty years since everything happened, and my family has moved on. Right now, I’m just hoping Uncle Drayton will get married soon and give my grandmother a few more grandchildren. That would certainly take some pressure off me, haha!” –
Hearing him mention Drayton made her feel somewhat uncomfortable. Thus, she picked up her water glass to mask her discomfort.
Just then, Zachary asked her. “By the way, the other day you asked me for the passcode to my uncle’s office floor. Were you looking for him because of something important!”
