Zachary mused. I know her name, age, profession, personality, hobbies, and even her background crystal clear. Is it still not considered knowing her!
With a snort, Janelle said, “For instance. I’m not a high society socialite. Though I’m Wallace’s daughter, his family’s wealth. and resources have nothing to do with me. Therefore, we’re mismatched in status. Also, I’ll never be a good wife and mother. The little patience I have is all spent on some Tom, Dick, and Harry… In short, someone as frivolous and disrespectful as I am with nothing to her name isn’t suitable for marriage, let alone romance,”
Ironically, Zachary chuckled after hearing everything, looking more relaxed. “Here I wondered what you were going to say! Who cares about those typical prominent young ladies or good wives? Uncle Drayton bringing one home to appease family will do. As for me, I’ve no restrictions. I’m looking for a woman like no other, someone like you.”
Janelle suddenly didn’t know how to respond to his fervent feelings. All she could do was rubs her forehead. “I’m truly not a good woman. There are many things I don’t know how to explain to you-
“There’s no need for explanations. After all, I’ve always been drawn to adventure and have no interest in those so–called ‘good Jwomen
Zachary picked up the cocktail beside him and reached over to clink glasses with her. His stare conveyed an added depth of affection. “I’d love to delve deeper into a girl like you, with a soul so free yet inscrutable.”
With a resigned smile, Janelle lifted her glass to toast with him.
She smiled as she found him endearing
Over the years, she had encountered all kinds of men professing their love to her. Some were sleazy, others passionate, romantic, artistic, naive, and even those who swore on their lives… She had always treated these confessions as mere diversions in life, responding with nothing more than a smile.
Hence, when faced with Zachary’s declaration of love, she remained unflustered, simply laughing it off
At the same time, she realized that only in his company did she feel truly at ease and happy. There was no need for schemes, pretenses, sarcasm, or to be on constant guard, bristling with defenses
Later, the two finished their meal in high spirits. Zachary called the waiter over first to settle the bill, while Janelle took the opportunity to freshen up in the restroom.
Once she stepped out, reaching a corner on the restaurant’s second floor, she prepared to look for Zachary’s whereabouts. To her surprise, she caught sight of a tall, familiar figure upon lifting her gaze.
Is that him!
The restaurant was already dimly lit, causing her to question if her eyes were playing tricks on her. It wasn’t until the tall figure grew closer that she was sure. Could he be following me?
He was accompanied by an assistant, and two foreign businessmen with Ferundian features trailed behind him. The waiter respectfully led them toward a private room in her direction. It was clear to all that he was there to entertain clients over a meal.
Janelle took a deep breath, quickly composing herself.
She didn’t hide, nor did she run away. She calmly stood her ground, waiting until the man’s gaze collided with hers.
The moment he saw her, he too halted in his tracks.
The people around him also turned to look at her in unison.
“Uncle Drayton?”
Zachary immediately spotted Drayton as he came out after settling the bill and casually greeted him. “Did you come here to

cat as well?”
Upon seeing his nephew and Janelle together there, Drayton instantly understood everything.
His naturally stern face gradually took on a frosty hue.
“By the way. Uncle Drayton, this is Ms. Hayward, the one I brought to your mansion for a swim last time. You should be acquainted with her, right?”
As Zachary spoke, he casually draped his arm around Janelle’s shoulder, revealing his intentions without any pretense. “We just finished eating here and plan to play badminton later, so I’ll probably be back late tonight,” he continued.
Drayton remained silent, his icy gaze persistently fixated on Janelle.
As for the latter, who effortlessly caught the hint of resentment in the man’s eyes across from her, she sneered slightly, not rejecting the hand Zachary had casually thrown over her shoulder.
“All right, Uncle Drayton Carry on with your business. We’re leaving now.” Noticing the foreign businessmen at the side, Zachary didn’t engage in further small talk and gently guided Janelle away.
As she walked by him, she lifted her gaze again, giving him a profound look. Then, she calmly followed Zachary downstairs.
On the surface, Drayton didn’t seem to have much emotional reaction. However, deep down, he had already planned where to bury her
