Chapter 9 Do You Have A Boyfriend
“Do you have a boyfriend?”
Janelle paused for a moment before chuckling. “No, I’ve always been single”
“That’s good then.”
With a sigh of relief, Zachary said, “So we can finally have a good time today. Let’s go.”

The downhill rush was the ultimate thrill of mountain biking, one of the most exhilarating–and dangerous–aspects of extreme sports.
As the saying goes, “The higher the risk, the greater the reward and the greater the chance of failure.”
Janelle had started at seventeen, and over the years, she’d taken her fair share of falls, even breaking a bone once. But it was through those struggles that she’d honed her skills to the level they were at now.
The two of them, bikes in hand, reached the starting point of the advanced track at the top of the hill. They had taken all the necessary precautions–knee pads, elbow pads, body armor, neck guards, and helmets.
When the signal came, Janelle gripped the handlebars tightly, pushed off with her feet, and without hesitation, plunged forward.
The terrain was complex, with significant variations in elevation. The paths through the forest were rugged and uneven, so much so that even a dog running wildly within it would risk a nasty collision.
However, Janelle drove as if on flat ground, her bike speeding swiftly down the slope. She nimbly dodged one obstacle after another, skillfully navigating the bends.
Zachary followed her at the same pace from behind, even going as far as to mount a camera on the front of his vehicle. He perfectly captured a variety of her captivating silhouettes.
After the steep jungle, there was an equally steep man–made stone staircase. The bicycle bounced along the stairs, swiftly descending, and quickly arrived at a perilous path.
The narrow path, bordered by a sheer cliff on one side, was rugged and uneven, enough to make anyone else uneasy.
Yet, Janelle and Zachary rode their bikes with wild abandon, undeterred by the lack of protective measures.
A surge of adrenaline coursed through Janelle, and the faster she went, the more exhilarating it became. The mountain wind. howled in her ears, and with every twist and turn, all the weight of the past few days seemed to dissolve.
The rush of the ride cleared her mind, leaving only the present moment–everything else faded into irrelevance.
Together, they conquered the most challenging section of the trail. With an impressive flip in mid–air, they crossed the finish line unscathed.
As they came to a stop, panting heavily and drenched in sweat, there was an undeniable thrill coursing through them. The exhilaration was like nothing else–raw, intense, and utterly freeing.
Zachary took the bottled water that his assistant had prepared in advance, twisted off the cap and handed it to her. “Here, Boss,” he said, “I’ve decided to stick with you from now on”
Janelle took the water bottle and tilted her head back, gulping down more than half the bottle. She then said, “I have to admit, your bike is fantastic, incredibly durable! It’s the coolest one I’ve ever ridden in!”
*If you like it, I’ll get you the latest models of this brand in the future. I’ll take care of all your gear!”
Janelle let out a laugh. “You must be a trust fund baby, aren’t you?”
Zachary didn’t respond.

Having just finished her workout, she had a light sheen of sweat on her forehead. Her fair skin was flushed with a honeyed blush, and her captivating eyes added to the vitality of her beauty. Her face was so full of life and allure that it was impossible to look away.
Her face, a striking blend of femininity and ruggedness, commanded attention in a way that left everyone else in the background. The soft, delicate faces of those around her, who were accustomed to flirting and giggling, seemed insignificant in comparison.
Unconsciously, Janelle glanced up, only to find herself locked in an intense gaze with Zachary. A slight discomfort crept over her, so she quickly shifted the focus of the moment. With a casual smile, she asked, “Shall we go for another round?”
Zachary, however, had other plans.
“Here’s the plan, I have a mansion conveniently located in this district, We can bike there, it’s about fifteen kilometers away. There’s a swimming pool in the house, we can go for a swim once we arrive
Janelle didn’t think much about it, simply responding, “All right.”
In the heat of summer, the thought of breaking into a sweat from exercise and then diving into a swimming pool for a swim was incredibly refreshing.
What happened next was a burst of energy
The two of them rode their mountain bikes onto the suburban ruads, challenging each other to a spirited race across the smooth. open terrain. Their legs pumped furiously, pushing the pedals as if they were trying to leave a trail of smoke behind them. At one point, they even managed to outpace a small car that was driving alongside them.
As she exerted herself climbing the slope, Janelle caught sight of a luxurious mansion of modern design standing tall in the distance.
“Do you usually live here?” Janelle asked him, panting slightly as she pedaled her bicycle.
*No, actually,” Zachary said with a smile, “I forgot to mention, this is actually my uncle’s residence, I come here quite often.”
-Your uncle?”
