Chapter 6
How dare 1 let a gray–haired old lady kneel in public?
I couldn’t help but regret it. I should have. persuaded my parents to come to school to pick me up. I exchanged a glance with my friend and together, we helped her up.
I looked at her carefully and sighed. What a stroke of bad luck to be caught up in this mess. “What exactly do you want?”
She stammered but said nothing, only cried in front of us. “Please forgive me. If you’re still upset, hit me back. I beg you, just give our family a way to survive!” She cried so pitifully.
The onlookers couldn’t stand it anymore, holding their phones and glaring at me indignantly.
“Everyone, look at this! The world is going downhill, forcing an old lady to kneel!”

“What kind of person is she? Granny, don’t be afraid, tell us, we’ll help you!”
I had no idea how to explain myself with a thousand mouths. This old lady just knelt with a thud; I couldn’t stop her even if I
tried.
Then she spouted some incoherent stuff. How am I supposed to explain this?
Seeing I couldn’t speak, the crowd grew even more agitated. The people
surrounded us tightly, countless phones pointed at my face, demanding I apologize to the old lady.
The camera flashes hurt my eyes, so I raised my hand to shield them. “I don’t even know what she’s talking about! How am I supposed to forgive her?” I was growing more and more frustrated.
I had just recovered from an injury and went out to relax, only to run into this
situation. Was I destined to clash with this
granny?

“If she won’t apologize, let’s post her face online and let everyone judge!”
“Yeah! Look at how she’s dressed. She must
have bullied the old lady and her family. Otherwise, who would cry and plead like. that in public?”
I was shoved around by the crowd, glancing at the old lady being comforted by everyone. I wanted to call my parents, but just as I pulled out my phone, I heard the sound of police sirens. Having just recovered from an injury, I ended up at the police station with the old lady.
“Tell me what happened,” a police officer said.
I glanced at the old lady, feeling speechless and took the initiative to speak. My expression was hard to describe. “I have no idea. My friend and I were just about to go out when she rushed towards me. She knelt without saying a word, crying and begging me to give her family a way out. I was utterly baffled!

Who wouldn’t be dumbfounded? An old lady with gray hair, without a word, suddenly knelt before me in public and started crying.
Luckily, I reacted quickly and helped her up. Otherwise, who knows what might have happened!
The police turned to the old lady. “What’s your side of the story?”
She stopped crying, sat on the chair and looked at me with a sinister glare. Through gritted teeth, she said, “Ask her! So young and already so ruthless. I only hit her a couple of times and she wants to cut off our family’s livelihood.” Everyone was stunned when she finished, not expecting her to change her tone so quickly.
I was puzzled. “How did I cut off your family’s livelihood?”
Her words left me even more confused. I
knew my own capabilities. What she said didn’t make any sense to me.

Seeing me deny it and look clueless, the old lady jumped up and pointed at me, “Oh, you still won’t admit it! Are you saying you didn’t hold a grudge against me and tell your father to stop doing business with my family?”
