Suddenly, Casimir seized Raylee’s shoulders, his eyes still brimming with a fervor of excitement as he said, “Even though we can finally be together openly now, I hope you can wait a little longer, Ray–Ray. Have you considered the matter I mentioned to you over the phone back then? What do you say to that?”
Raylee remained silent, quietly observing his face that was shameless to the extreme.
Indeed, he may have appeared human on the surface, but that was no different from a deceptive facade. His insides were crafty and filthy, so much so that calling him a dog would be an insult to dogs.
Casimir continued with great enthusiasm, “My mom told me that even though you were adopted by the Goodridge family, she would help you marry into the Sutherland family. But the condition is that you have to be able to assist me in my career. Haven’t you already gotten into Mr. Foucault’s good graces? I was hoping you could help me connect with Mr. Foucault for potential collaborations on some projects. This way, my position within Sutherland Group would become more secure. As for your affair with Mr. Foucault, I will turn a blind eye. I wouldn’t mind that you two were once in a relationship…”
There was a hint of jealousy in Casimir’s tone as he added, “Even though I am somewhat bothered, I would strive to Jovercome the jealousy within me because I know you’re sacrificing yourself to help me. Ray–Ray, you’re an incredible
woman. At least in my heart, your image is exceptionally noble.”
Raylee was taken aback by his unabashedly persistent approach.
One who has no shame can take any blame! Well, this guy has gone beyond shameless, though. He’s downright despicable.”
The thought that she had been infatuated with this despicable man for so many years made her feel sick. It was a discomfort that consumed her both physically and emotionally.
Meeting Casimir’s gaze filled with anticipation, Raylee let out a cold, sarcastic laugh. “Mr. Sutherland, have you ever pondered upon a certain issue?”
With a smile, Casimir said, “What’s on your mind, Ray–Ray? Go ahead and ask.”
Raylee scoffed, saying,
“I’ve already snagged Mr. Foucault, you know. He’s the heir to the Malk royal family. In plain terms, he’s practically a prince, and not just any prince, he’s the kind with wealth to rival a nation. Why would I be sacrificing myself to help you when I already have such an exceptional man? Is it because of your excessive narcissism, thinking that you outshine Mr. Foucault in every way?”
These words instantly made Casimir feel utterly embarrassed.
He had pondered over this issue, and felt worried and scared.
Now that Raylee has someone like Mr. Foucault in her life, would she still have feelings for me? Even though I am quite exceptional myself, when compared to Mr. Foucault, I simply don’t hold a candle. Well, now that I really think about it, I actually have one undeniable advantage. Raylee and I were childhood friends! Having grown up together, Raylee had harbored feelings for me for many years! Hence, I have a natural advantage, I believe that, deep down, Raylee must still have feelings for me!
“Ray–Ray, can you stop deceiving yourself, please? Even though you appear to hate me on the surface, the person you truly loved the most deep down inside was always me. Whether it was four years ago, or four years from now, no matter what I did that hurt you, I’ve always held a place in your heart. Emotions don’t lie, Ray–Ray. It’s time you faced your own feelings!” Casimir pleaded, his eyes filled with emotion.
Raylee didn’t hold back her sarcasm at all when she said, “Mr. Sutherland, narcissism is a sickness, and you need treatment for it!”
“I’m telling the truth! Ray–Ray, we’ve already wasted so much time. For the rest of our lives, let’s not miss out on each other anymore, all right? As long as you support me in my career, I will marry you once my position in Sutherland Group becomes stronger. You, Raylee, will soon become the young lady of the Sutherland family. Clutching his aching eye, Casimir angrily rebuked,
“Ray–Ray, we were having a proper conversation! Why would you hit me just like that? You’d resort to violence at the slightest, disagreement? How have you become so barbaric? You’re simply beyond reason!”
Raylee massaged her clenched fist, the knuckles crackling audibly. Gritting her teeth, she said, “I hit you because you deserved it. What, do I need to schedule such beatings with your secretary or something? You’re a disgusting man who leeches off others and are all talk! I’d hit you every time I see you!”
