On the other side, Raylee strolled leisurely along the cemetery’s path, her left hand leading Dodo and her right holding onto the masked man.
It felt rather odd for a family of three to be casually strolling through a cemetery, but Raylee was in high spirits.
She curiously asked, “Leonardo, you need to explain something to me. Why is your mother’s grave located in Jexburgh?”
The masked man let out a sigh. “Because she was from Jexburgh. She once expressed her desire to return to where she belongs, so I fulfilled her wish.”
“When did she pass away?”
“When I was around thirteen or fourteen.”
“That early? What was the reason for her passing?” Raylee frowned, her voice tinged with a hint of sadness as she continued, “Do you think I’m asking too many questions? It’s all right; you don’t have to say more if you don’t want to. I won’t insist on digging deep into your heartbreaking history.”
The masked man said sorrowfully, “It is indeed heartbreaking. Her death was something I could never come to terms with. She was murdered by a guy named ‘Maximus Graebner.”
“Maximus Graebner? This name doesn’t sound local. Is he a foreigner?” Raylee asked, her expression grave.
The masked man nodded. “That is only his code name. Even I don’t know his real name. Even after all this time, I still haven’t been able to uncover his true identity. The vengeance for my mother’s murder is a burden heavier than the sky, and I will never give up tracking him down!”
Originally, Raylee was feeling quite downhearted. However, upon hearing these words, she became as indignantly furious as the masked man. “This murderer must be incredibly cunning if you’re unable to catch him even with your status and position!”

The masked man warned her, “That’s right. This person is ruthless and full of cunning tricks, very adept at the art of disguises. So, no matter who you encounter in the future, don’t be fooled by their outward appearance. Always stay alert and contact me immediately if anything happens.”
Raylee felt somewhat baffled.
Why is he suddenly giving me such advice? He makes it sound as though that Maximus guy is coming after me or something!
As the two of them were engrossed in their conversation, before they knew it, they had arrived at the Lorimer family’s burial plot.
Raylee noticed, but she didn’t pay it any mind.
Since the masked man was still enthusiastically discussing his background, Raylee didn’t have the heart to interrupt him.
“After my mother passed away, it was just my sister and I against the world. Those days were incredibly difficult to endure. On one hand, I couldn’t avenge my mother’s death, and on the other, I had to take care of my younger sister, all while enduring the bullying from other members of our family,” the masked man said with a raspy voice, tinged with a subtle melancholy that was deeply moving.
“Aren’t you the third generation heir of the royal family? Doesn’t your father care about you? How could your family inembers bully you?” Raylee asked with suspicion.
The masked man shook his head helplessly.
“You silly girl! The larger the family, the more complicated it becomes, with a myriad of intertwined interests that are too intricate to fully enumerate. Even the closest of people, wouldn’t hesitate to wish you dead once their interests are infringed.

I had initially thought that heirs to royal families were born with silver spoons in their mouths and grow up without a care in the world.. Who would’ve thought he had had experienced so many obstacles? Just that last sentence of his spoke volumes of the countless hardships he endured!
Raylee held the masked man’s hand tightly, her heart aching for him.
Since he now possessed so much power and became her pillar of support, it was hard for her to imagine how he had suffered back then.
The saying is right. There is no such thing as peace and tranquility! It’s merely someone else bearing the burden of your sins and moving forward on your behalf!
Raylee felt that her early life had been filled with hardship. For reasons untrue, she had found herself sentenced to prison/ The torment she endured in jail had been so unbearable, she often felt that life was worse than death.
Upon reflection, it seemed that the masked man was not much better than her.
That overwhelming empathy made her feel like crying.
She let go of Dodo, turning around to tightly embrace the masked man, unable to hold back her choked up voice as she said, “Mr. Foucault, I’ll stay by your side throughout the rest of our lives. You won’t have to rely solely on your sister anymore! You have me too!”
As the masked man recalled her life, which lasted less than six months, his tone turned somber.
He took a deep breath, gently patted her shoulder, and comforted her, saying, “We’ve got a long life ahead of us, so you must promise me to live it well.”
“I promise you that I’ll live well and accompany you till the end! Also, your hatred is my hatred. If I ever come across that Maxírnus guy, I will surely kill him to avenge your mother!” Raylee said, her arms tightening around his waist.
