Chapter 344 A Serendipitous Encounter
The masked man couldn’t help but chuckle. “What if he turns out to be your lifesaver?”
Raylee firmly shook her head. “There’s no way that could happen!”
This speculation was nothing short of absurd.
“Mr. Foucault? Is that you? What are you doing here?” Suddenly, a strong and resonant voice echoed from not too far interrupting the conversation between the two.
As the two of them looked over, they saw that it was Victor.
away,
The esteemed head of the Lorimer family had come to pay respects to his ancestors, followed by a multitude of relatives. The grand procession was truly a sight to behold.
The masked man was taken aback for a moment.
Raylee was equally taken aback, but she soon remembered and whispered, “We accidentally stumbled into the Lorimer family’s burial plot.”
The masked man nodded slightly, holding Raylee’s hand as he responded naturally, “Hello.”
“So it really is you, Mr. Foucault. What a serendipitous encounter! I’ve been hoping for a chance to meet you, and today, we’ve unexpectedly crossed paths.”
Victor appeared quite excited, even showing a hint of nervousness when he shook hands with the masked man.
After he had willingly given up on the Snow Wave Amusement Park project, it was as if he had knocked on the door to opportunities with the masked man.
They discussed another, even larger project.
There was a strong possibility of reaching a collaboration at that time.
Other relatives of the Lorimer family also displayed expressions of excitement.
The third–generation heir of the Malk royal family, a prince of unparalleled prestige, gracing the Lorimer family’s burial plot was nothing short of extraordinary.
“What could have brought you to the Lorimer family’s burial plot today, Mr. Foucault?”
Victor had initially thought he was there to evaluate some project.
Otherwise, he couldn’t fathom any reason why the esteemed prince would visit the cemetery.
The masked man slightly lifted his hand, which was tightly interlocked with Raylee’s fingers, as he replied, “I’m here to pay my respects with my fiancée.”
“Ah?” It was only then that Victor noticed Raylee standing next to the masked man.
Upon taking a closer look, he found the greatly changed Raylee to be strangely familiar.
Victor quickly said, “Your fiancée seems familiar, Mr. Foucault. I feel as though I’ve seen her somewhere before. Who’s the lucky lady to be engaged to you, Mr. Foucault?”
Raylee introduced herself, “I’m Raylee, Mr. Victor. Don’t you remember me?”
“Raylee? The adopted daughter of the Goodridge family? How did you become so beautiful?” Victor exclaimed.

Once, she had risked her life to go on a rescue mission in Musmeynia, even managing to bring back a chip.
Suddenly, his eyes turned serious. “Mr. Foucault, may we step aside to talk?”
“What’s so secretive that it can’t be discussed in front of my fiancée?” the masked man asked nonchalantly.
“It’s about the DH project we discussed, I fear…”
“No worries; I’m well aware of everything, and I even plan on involving my fiancée in this project.”
“What project?” Raylee asked, utterly bewildered as the two people seemed to be speaking in riddles.
Victor reacted even more strongly than she did, “Mr. Foucault, isn’t this inappropriate?”
Finished
The masked man waved his hand and stated, “Why isn’t it appropriate? Women nowadays can be just as competent as men, Mr. Victor. You shouldn’t discriminate against women. Moreover, I have faith in my fiancée’s capabilities. Of course, if Ms. Layla were to assist, it would be even more perfect.”
Suddenly, the focus turned to Layla, who was standing amongst the Lorimer family members.
Layla then stepped forward and greeted him, “It’s been a while, Mr. Foucault.”
The masked man responded to her warmly by saying, “The last time we met was at the Goodridge family’s banquet, which isn’t too long ago. Have you been keeping well recently, Ms. Layla?”
He had been polite and formal when he spoke to Victor earlier.
When speaking with Layla, however, his tone sounded as though he was conversing with an old friend.
“Layla, you know Mr. Foucault? Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” Victor asked in surprise.
“Indeed; I’ve known Mr. Foucault for many years. He even helped me out when I was suffering from domestic abuse at the hands of my ex–husband,” Layla replied.
“Really? Such a thing happened?” Victor slightly bowed as he continued, “Mr. Foucault, I’m deeply grateful for the assistance you’ve provided to my daughter in the past.”
The masked man said with a hint of disdain, “Why are you thanking me when your family’s elders didn’t even bother to intervene? I merely stepped in to lend a hand when I saw injustice. Isn’t that perfectly normal? I wonder if Ms. Layla has fully recovered from the beating she once received.”
