Chapter 345 Taking Advantage
That single remark left Victor utterly ashamed.
Back then, he had forced Layla to marry an oil tycoon, fully aware that his son–in–law had tendencies toward domestic violence.
However, for the sake of his family’s interests, he chose not to interfere in their marital affairs, turning a blind eye instead.
This very incident was the reason why Layla and Jeremiah harbored resentment toward him.
Unexpectedly, the masked man had brought up past grievances in such a setting today.
The concern from the masked man touched Layla deeply. “It’s been such a long time, Mr. Foucault. My physical wounds have long since healed.”
The masked man let out a sigh. “But emotional scars, they’re forever incurable, right?”

He then walked over and patted her shoulder as he continued, “It’s all in the past now. If you ever need help in the future, don’t hesitate to tell me.”
Raylee watched as the masked man interacted intimately with Layla. Suddenly, her mind was filled with a flurry of unrealistic speculations.
Why does Leonardo’s past seem a bit similar to that of Jeremiah’s? Jeremiah, too, had lost his mother at a young age, leaving him and his sister, Layla, to rely solely on each other for survival. He had also endured endless torment in the Lorimer family, and had likewise assisted Layla in teaching her abusive husband a lesson. Also, the masked man had now inadvertently trespassed into the Lorimer family’s burial plot. Was it unintentional, or was it merely a coincidence?
The expression on Raylee’s face gradually turned serious.
Even though she knew her suspicions were unfounded, she couldn’t help but ponder deeply.
Somehow, the masked man and Jeremiah seemed to share a sense of overlapping similarity.
Yet, oddly enough, the masked man was also cloaked in the identity of a foreign royal heir.
This was something that an illegitimate child like Jeremiah simply couldn’t compare to.
Raylee deeply furrowed her brow, dispelling the unrealistic suspicions that clouded her mind.
However, Victor had a different idea in mind.
I did not expect that Mr. Foucault and Layla had such a good relationship. With such a great relationship, what better time to take advantage of it, if not now?
“Layla, since Mr. Lorimer holds you in such high regard, you mustn’t let him down. How about this? You’ll start working at Lorimer Group from tomorrow. Once you’re familiar with the group’s operations, you’ll be in charge of liaising with Mr. Foucault on the DH project.”
After publicly expressing his support for Layla, Victor then turned to the masked man and asked with a smile, “Mr. Foucault, are you satisfied with the arrangements I’ve made?”
Layla watched her father in this submissive state, finding it nothing short of ridiculous.
He sure is a cunning one! The DH project was far from being set in stone, but now he’s using me to secure the collaboration!
The masked man didn’t refuse, though. “I’ll be counting on you, then, Ms. Layla.”
Victor was overjoyed. A collaboration with them would bring unimaginable benefits Lorimer Group.

Enraged, Rosalind retorted, “If I don’t speak up now, people are going to walk all over us! Victor, you promised me before that you would never allow that woman’s child to be involved with Lorimer Group, not businesses related to Lorimer Group! How could you go back on your word like this?”

Her daughter, Tiffany, had been victimized and endured unimaginable humiliation. Not only was she denied justice, but she was also banished from the country, reducing her to a state of utter destitution.
She was already bottling up a load of resentment because of that.
Then, to make matters worse, the daughter of the woman she despised the most was about to be brought into Lorimer Group.
Naturally, she couldn’t possibly accept such an outcome.

Whenever Rosalind thought of Layla’s birth mother, she would be so filled with resentment that she gritted her teeth in
anger.
She wished she could have dug up that despicable woman’s ashes and lashed out at it.
“Shut up!” warned Victor. Afterward, he looked apologetically toward the masked man and said, “Apologies; my wife tends to spout nonsense sometimes. I hope you won’t mind, Mr. Foucault.”
The masked man said with a tone of dissatisfaction, “How could I not mind? The DH project is massive. What if something goes wrong? Mr. Lorimer, please sort out your personal matters promptly before the project commences. I wouldn’t want suffer any losses due to you being soft–hearted toward your family.”
The underlying suggestion was for him to deal with Rosalind.
“I will!” Victor respectfully pledged.
After leaving the Lorimer family’s burial plot with the masked man, Raylee asked, “You were the one leading the way just now, weren’t you? We were casually chatting and somehow ended up in the Lorimer family’s b
