“Something like that.” The masked man nodded, gently lifting her clothes to reveal the emblem of the terrorist organization on her lower back.

Raylee turned her head and almost scared herself to death. “Goodness! How did this tattoo get so dark? It’s so wouldn’t turn into some sort of malignant tumor, would it?”

The masked man held her hand, soothingly saying, “It’s not that extreme, but the doctor did conduct a sample test. The pigments here contain toxins. If left unchecked, these toxins will gradually infiltrate your bloodstream, damaging your immune system. But don’t worry; the medical team I lead has developed a drug that can neutralize the toxin. At the very least, within a year, we could effectively control the spread of the toxin.”

My life is so pitiful! First, it’s the lethal complications left behind from the human experimentation. Then, inexplicably, I was etched with a crude tattoo that shockingly contained toxins! The masked man nodded. “It’s not just that; finding him might lead us to the experimental data, which could save your life.”
“But the world is so vast, where could I possibly find him? I’ve never even seen his true face. I’ve only heard his voice and have a rough idea of his build and height.”
“No worries; I’ll leave no stone unturned until I find him! Because, he’s still the one who killed my mother, known by the codename ‘Maximus!” As he said this, the masked man clenched his fist forcefully,
Raylee was taken aback by his words. “What? Maximus is actually the apprentice of the Epean doctor?”
The masked man patiently explained to her, “That’s right. This ‘WC‘ on your back is actually a symbol representing an international terrorist organization. The members of this terrorist organization are nothing short of desperate villains, known for their extreme cruelty. They often roam from country to country, instigating horrific acts of terror. Once you join them, you would be marked with this symbol. The organization would periodically administer a unique drug to prevent the symbol from darkening. If left untreated, the individual would succumb to the toxin and perish. This was also a method used by the organization’s higher–ups to control their subordinates, preventing them from rebelling.”
A chill ran down Kaylee’s spine as she listened. “Are you implying that I’m now a terrorist?”
Rather than becoming one of those vile villains, she would have preferred to die from complications of the experiment.

Upon hearing these words, it was as if a switch had been flicked deep within Raylee’s memory.
Her complexion was deathly pale as she felt lost and confused. “No wonder he said those things…”
“What did he say to you?” the masked man asked
anxiously.
Raylee recalled what he said and replied, “When I nearly drowned in the ocean, he saved me. After that, he performed several surgeries on me, all without anesthesia. Back then, I was almost fainting from pain. He whispered in my ear, promising that he would get me out of prison soon and take me to a home that belonged to both of us.” Her face held a hint of embarrassment as she added, “And he also called me his wife.”
The masked man snorted heavily.

wishes! Calling a woman his wife when she’s at her weakest! What a jerk!”
