Chapter 22 Finally Smiled
Ravier was well aware of her own circumstances.
In the past, she was nothing more than a fake heiress of the Goodridge family, and she had even spent four years in prison
She was just an ordinary ex–convict with a criminal record
It was unimaginable for her to be having a meal with the son of the Lorimer family, let alone having a blind date with him.
She felt she wasnt worthy of him.
With Layla present, their mealtime was filled with lively conversation and laughter, creating a rather pleasant atmosphere.
After they finished eating, she went to the restroom and never returned.
Only Raylee and Jeremiah were left, and the two of them locked eyes.
In the end, it was Raylee who first broke the silence..
“I can take a taxi home by myself.”
As soon as she stood up, she noticed Jeremiah’s eyebrows furrowed deeply, his tone laced with sarcasm.
“So you’re going to just up and leave after having your fill?”
Raylee’s body stiffened.
This statement…. why does it sound so odd
It sounded as if she was a jerk.
“Mr. Lorimer, we’ve finished our meal. Aren’t we leaving?” she asked, glancing sideways at him.
Jeremiah’s handsome face was tinged with a hint of nonchalance. It was unclear whether he was joking or being serious.
“It’s a blind date, after all. Shouldn’t it be a full package? After dinner, wouldn’t the next stop be a movie?”
“Uh…”
That makes senser.
However, it requires mutual attraction between two people for any subsequent developments, right?
We aren’t attracted to each other.
No, I should say it’s impossible for Jeremiah to be interested in me.
“What’s the matter? Am I not good enough to watch a movie with you?” Jeremiah pouted, his slender dark eyes fixed on her.
The half–smile on his face made him even more inscrutable to Raylee
Am I not the one who’s unworthy?
How have the tables turned?
This man was beyond her comprehension.
In the end, all Raylee could do was follow her train of thought and counter–questioned him, “Mr. Lorimer, are you perhaps. unaware of my situation?”
A subtle smile played at the corners of Jeremiah’s lips as he spoke in a nonchalant tone.

you used to call me when we were kids.”
Raylee paused for a moment. Hate I ever called him that before?
We hadn’t seen each other much in total.

In her memory, apart from him being slight of build, she couldn’t even recall any details of the time they had spent together.
Surprisingly, he remembered.
“Don’t be nervous. I’m aware of everything about you, even your time in jail.”
When Raylee heard that, a wave of nausea washed over her.
This was the greatest humiliation of her life.
A hint of sadness flashed in her eyes
She was just about to ask Jeremiah if he already knew, why would he still suggest going to see a movie with her?
Although he was an illegitimate child, he was also the esteemed son of the Lorimer family
Meanwhile, he began to speak slowly..
“You’ve been in jail, but I know you were wrongfully accused. So, don’t overthink it.”
“Do you believe I’m innocent?” Raylee asked with disbelief
-Why
y wouldn’t I believe that? I also hold faith in an idea–justice may be delayed, but it will not be denied.”
A hint of cryptic depth flashed through Jeremiah’s eyes.
A thought stirred in Raylee’s mind.
For her, Jeremiah was just slightly more familiar than a stranger.
He, however, stated that he believed in her innocence.
A hint of emotion stirred within her.
For some reason, she felt an overwhelming urge to cry.
“Thank you,” she said.
She transformed the countless thoughts in her mind into just two words, expressing heartfelt gratitude.
Jeremiah proposed, saying, “I don’t need your verbal thanks. If you really want to thank me, then accompany me to a movie. I just returned from abroad not long ago, and I don’t know any good movies that have recently been released. You decide.”
“Actually, I don’t really know either.”
Scratching her head in embarrassment, Kaylee added, “I’ve only been out of jail for a few days.”
The atmosphere suddenly turned awkward.
“No worries. Let’s just randomly choose one, then.”
“All right!” Kaylee said, her lips pursed in a faint smile.
After being released from prison, aside from feeling at ease in front of her grandmother, she could only feel this relaxed in the presence of the Lorimer siblings.
Even though Layla and Jeremiah were from the Lorimer family, they had a vibe that made it hard for people to dislike them.

Premously, Kaylee had heard about the concept of blind dates. If a man and a woman found each other appealing, they would typically proceed to watch a movie together
Weching the movie was merely a pretext
In the obscurity of dim light, a man might make some ambiguous moves to bridge the gap, such as holding hands.
Morere, they would share kisses or engage in even more daring little gestures

The standing next to her was none other than the son of the Lormer family, the most prestigious family in Jexburgh.
Asking him to accompany her was like a rose in a garbage dump.
However, no sooner had she swallowed her words than Jeremiah took the initiative to propose. The sunlight amidst the

As he spoke, whether it was intentional or unintentional, he naturally took hold of Raylee’s gloved hand.
Startled, Rayler recooled as if she’d been shocked by electricity
“What’s wrong” Jeremiah asked, gazing at her with a puzzled look,
“Is this somewhat inappropriate?” Kaylee asked, lowering her gaze.
She felt a whirlwind of emotions bubbling with her. Her heart pounded relentlessly, its pace quickening with every moment. She even found herself unable to meet his gaze directly.
“You don’t like me?” Jeremiah’s voice was husky, carrying a hint of roguish charm.
“Why did you agree to watch a movie with me, then? I thought you felt the same way about me as I did about you.”
“Same way” Raylee exclaimed, her eyes widening in surprise,
Yeah. We’re on a blind date. Isn’t it better to be straightforward?”
Jeremiah raised an eyebrow in amusement, an air of nonchalance enveloping him entirely
Kayler couldn’t discern the truth from his words.
She asked uncertainly. “Mr. Lorimer, are you saying that you’ve taken a liking to me and you want to pursue a relationship

“Are you serious? You re not joking with me, are you?” Raylee simply couldn’t believe it,
A hint of amusement colored Jeremiah’s dark eyes, his tone laced with a touch of helplessness.

“Do you really think I have time to joke around with you? I’m quite busy too, you know! Would I have accompanied you to watch that boring romantic dud if I wasn’t interested in you? That plot was utterly terrible, especially the male lead. He was just a pretty face with no acting skills. During the scene where he cried at the grave. I thought he was attending a wedding! Only people without a straight mind would compliment this kind of trashy movie!”
Listening to Jeremiah’s ruthless critique of the movie, Raylee couldn’t help but laugh
Finally, he couldn’t help but let out a burst of laughter.
“You finally smiled.” Jeremiah’s dark eyes were locked onto her face, a hint of sternness in his gaze.
When she laughed, her deep dimples were revealed, exuding an innocence and sweetness that provided a sense of pure and delightful pleasure.
He couldn’t resist reaching out to pinch her nose.
