“No need for thanks. There’s no need for you to be so formal with me.”
In the midst of a crowd, Jeremiah casually pinched her cute nose, completely disregarding the public eye.
Raylee lifted her gaze, meeting his eyes that were as deep as the ocean.
It was as if the stars in the sky had fallen into his eyes. At that moment, he looked as handsome as a legendary hero from the

Observing Jeremiah’s affectionate demeanor, Waverly, who was off to the side, clenched her fists tightly.
She was filled with both envy and jealousy.
Casimir had never treated her like that before.
The number of times they held hands could be counted on just three fingers.
Besides, his demeanor had become even more indifferent after the failed attempt to lure him at the previous birthday party.
How on earth is Raylee, an ex–convict, worthy of the affection of the son of the Lorimer family? Waverly wasn’t pleased.
“Jeremiah, I beg you. Please don’t blame Shanice anymore. It’s all my fault!” Waverly pleaded as she wiped her tears and helped Shanice up, intentionally creating confusion.
“Are you the heiress of the Goodridge family?” Jeremiah stared at her, his expression a mix of anger and indifference.
Waverly found herself somewhat intimidated by his piercing gaze, meekly nodding in response.
She tried to win over Jeremiah by having a pretentious chatter with him.
“I really didn’t know what made Raylee so angry. Out of nowhere, she lost her temper and lashed out at Shanice. Shanice was merely defending herself, and you just happened to see it. It’s all just a misunderstanding… Waverly said.
The
e underlying message was that Raylee acted violently first. She was hoping that Jeremiah wouldn’t blame Shanice.
She even wanted to put the blame on Raylee.
After all, she thought the son of the Lorimer family was supposed to be a reasonable man.
However, she overestimated Jeremiah’s moral compass.
She saw him transform into an expert at seeing through facades, and he began to say eloquently, “My fiancée does as she pleases, whether it’s losing her temper or picking a fight. Even if she wanted to commit murder, I’d hand her the murder weapon myself. Who are you to babble on here?”
Once these words were spoken, the scene fell dead silent.
A normal man wouldn’t utter such arrogant and domineering words.
Indeed, he was the insufferably arrogant son of the Lorimer family.

Jeremiah didn’t give a hoot about the pretentious woman. He roared in fury. “Of course, you’re the one who’s at fault!”
Waverly felt utterly ashamed. She widened her innocent, wide eyes, and tears were welling up and spinning around her eyelids.
Jeremiah wasn’t one to be gentle and protective toward all women.
Suddenly, Jeremiah made a phone call and commanded. “Come in!”
In less than a minute, four bodyguards clad in black entered
Jeremiah’s handsome face was shrouded in darkness, and he uttered ruthlessly, “Take these two troublemaking women to the police station. Submit all the surveillance footage and witness testimonies. Let them get a taste of prison food!”
Those words hit Shanice and Waverly like a bolt from the blue, leaving them both stunned.
“We didn’t do anything wrong! Why should we be sent to prison?” Shanice shouted out, indignant.
Waverly was so frightened that she collapsed on the spot.
It didn’t matter whether they were truly at fault. If the Lorimer family believed they were, they couldn’t escape the blame.
In Jexburgh, the Lorimer family was synonymous with the rule of law.
The four–year ordeal that Raylee endured in prison served as the best testament.
As the situation gradually spiraled out of control, Raylee decided to speak up by saying. “Forget about it. Tonight is a charity dinner. Let’s not let them spoil our mood.”
“Do you want to let them off the hook?” Jeremiah asked.
Kaylee nodded. “I’m here in place of my grandma. Everything I say and do represents her, so let’s not quibble with them
She was no saint, and she harbored a deep resentment toward Shanice and Waverly.
That was especially the case for Waverly, who had falsely accused her of theft four years ago, leading her to endure four years of imprisonment.
She wished nothing more than to torture Waverly.
However, that wasn’t the best time for revenge.
She was determined to settle the score herself openly, rather than letting Jeremiah fight her battles for her.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t be any different from Waverly four years ago.
Upon hearing her words, Jeremiah had no choice but to relent. He pointed at Shanice and Waverly, ordering, “Get these two women out of here!”
“Understood!” The four bodyguards publicly restrained the two individuals, their hands twisted behind their backs. They were escorted away with a roughness akin to that used on criminals.
Raylee didn’t utter another word. Out of sight, out of mind.
The crowd dispersed afterward
Jeremiah’s handsome face showed a hint of displeasure when he asked, “Why have you come on your own?”
“Didn’t I mention? Originally, I was supposed to accompany my grandma. However, she wasn’t feeling well when we were about to leave, so I’ve come in her place.”

“I was just teasing you, silly girl” Jeremiah raised an eyebrow, a slight smirk playing on his lips. “Truth be told, I seldom. attend auctions, especially those for charity: Can you guess why I’m here!”
“Why?”
“Ive got a video conference right now. Once it’s over, I’ll come back and fill you in. Just wait for me.”
Meanwhile, the bodyguards had led Waverly and Shanice to the entrance of the hotel and discarded them onto the street as if they were tossing out the trash.
The two of them fell hard onto the ground, their gowns disheveled. They were as disoriented and humiliated as if they had. lost everything
Shanice hauled herself up, pointing angrily at the bodyguards as she unleashed a tirade of curses.
“How dare you lay a hand on me? Just you

“Get lost!” the bodyguards sneered dismissively, spat out in contempt, and then turned around to leave.
Shanice was livid because her meticulously styled hair had turned into a chaotic mess.
She then turned to ask Waverly, “What’s going on? How did Kaylee become Jeremiah’s fiancée? Didn’t she just get out of prison”
While wiping her tears, Waverly responded, “It was my parents who arranged the blind date, and it just happened a couple of days ago
“A blind date? Does that mean Raylee isn’t considered Jeremiah’s fiancée yet?”
“Things have not even begun to take shape, but judging by the demeanor of the son of the Lorimer family, it seems like he’s quite smitten with Rayler,”
“I see!” Shanice gritted her teeth and said, “Is he blind or what, falling for an ex–convict?”
“However, what good does his affection do? How could the Lorimer family possibly welcome someone like Raylee, a woman of low status with a criminal record, into their home!”
Just then, two luxury cars pulled up at the entrance.
Casimir and Samuel each got out of the car, and they were confused when they saw how disheveled those two women were.
Waverly hadn’t stopped crying, and her tears fell like rain at this moment. She sobbed and threw herself into Samuel’s arms, expressing her grievance by saying, “Samuel, you’re finally here!”
“What happened? Who bullied you two?” Samuel asked angrily.
