Chapter 44 How Could You Hit Her
At that moment, the pain was so intense that he almost thought he was going to drop dead.
Raylee cast her a cold, indifferent glance from the side, her heart undisturbed, even feeling a touch of satisfaction.
Waverly, with tears streaming down her face, rushed forward to help Samuel up. Holding him, she cried out in heartache, “Samuel, I don’t want the pink diamond anymore. I beg you, please stop arguing with Raylee. Oh no, your shoulder is bleeding. Does it hurt a lot? Let me clean that up for you
Tears streamed down her face as she gently blew on his wound, all the while dabbing away the blood with a tissue. Her demeanor was pitiful yet filled with a tender kindness.
Seeing his sister, Samuel’s heart nearly melted. He wished he could give her all the best things in the world.
He glanced again at Raylee, who was standing off to the side, cold as a block of ice.
The resentment in her gaze as she looked at him was so
so intense, it was as if she wanted to skin him alive.
Raylee’s cold demeanor was a stark contrast to Waverly’s genteel mannerisms.
Why was there such a vast difference, even though they were both his adored younger sisters?
To think that I’ve spoiled her for eighteen long years, and it’s all in vain!
With this in mind, Samuel’s gaze was firmly fixed on Raylee, as though he wished he could bore a hole right through her face
with his starc..
“Alright, if it’s not for sale, it’s not for sale. It’s not like we’re losing a piece of meat over a missing pink diamond. Be careful, Samuel, and stop being upset with your sister,” Harriet advised.
At this point, Samuel was no longer fighting for that pink diamond, but rather, he was fighting for his pride.
He forcefully suppressed his inner rage and said to Raylee, “Mom’s birthday is approaching, and Waverly doesn’t want the pink diamond for herself. She intends to give it to Mom as a birthday present. Waverly is so devoted to our family. What about you? I bet you don’t even remember Mom’s birthday! Didn’t we hold every single birthday party of yours? If you have any shared of decency left, and if you haven’t forgotten the kindness we showed you for eighteen years, then hand over the pink diamond. Let Mom have a joyful birthday for once!”
Upon hearing these words, Harriet turned her face away, letting out a profound sigh.
at was as if she was lamenting that she had never wronged Raylee in the past yet in the end, her sincerity had been in vain.
Alari nodded folemnly
“Your brother is right,” he said. “Though you’re not my own flesh and blood, I did raise you for eighteen years! You can’t just disregard our eighteen years of dedication toward you because of the four years you spent in prison. You should have some
conscience!”
Only then did Raylee realize the Goodridge family truly excelled at emotional blackmailing.
She cast a cold glance at everyone from the Goodridge family, a slight smirk playing on her lips, her expression filled with disdain and mockery
“Indeed, I can’t deny that you raised me for eighteen years. Yet, similarly, you all are the very executioners who killed me with your own hands! The only reason I survived those four years in prison without being tortured to death, and why I wasn’t drowned by Samuel that night, was sheer luck! Do you killers actually have the audacity to talk to me about conscience! Tu preach about morality and righteousness? Don’t you fund that laughable?
Samuel slammed his hand on the table, rising to his feet in anger.
You keep bringing up those four years. Isn’t it just because you want us to constantly remember the debt our Goodridge family owes you? Who do you think you are? Nothing but the daughter of a nanny! We let you play the role of a wealthy

“Samuel, please don’t argue with Raylee anymore,” Waverly pleaded through her tears. “She’s about to become Mrs. Lorimer
We can’t afford to offend berl”
While this statement seemed to be making peace on the surface, it was actually fanning the flames underneath.
Samuel’s anger was fueled even further, the rage burning brighter within him. Without hesitation, he stepped forward and harshly slapped Raylee across the face.
A resounding slap echoed.
Raylee’s head was knocked askew. She held her face, staring blankly at Samuel without any expression..
Hatred was apparent in her firm gaze.
“Samuel, have you lost your mind? How could you hit Ray–Ray!”
Harriet rushed over in a state of panic, and without a second thought, she slapped Samuel right on his head.
But the force of this hit was nowhere near Samuel’s slap.
Samuel gazed at his own reddened palm, a flicker of bewilderment passing through his eyes.
He had lost control earlier and struck Raylee.
Just a couple of days ago, he had nearly drowned her, and she had sustained numerous injuries.
How could he have brought himself to do it?
“You little punk, how dare you lay hands on Ray–Ray right in front of me? Do you think I’m dead or something? That’s your sister! No matter what, you can’t resort to violence!” Alaric rebuked angrily, then commanded, “Hurry up and apologize to your sister, or else I’ll return this slap on behalf of Ray–Ray!”
Watching Alaric play the good guy at such a time, with his acting skills so poor, Raylee couldn’t help but laugh.
They had only defended her after considering that she’d marry into the Lorimer family.
Samuel opened his mouth, intending to apologize. He wanted to reach out and touch Raylee’s face, to ask if she was in pain.
