Chapter 57 Why Did You Try To Escape
Waverly was always bringing up what shouldn’t be mentioned,
“Consider my injured leg a gift. Are you satisfied?” Raylee glared at her coldly.
“No need for gifts. Your presence is enough.” Harriet quickly tried to smooth things over, adding, “I’ve already heard from Wavy that Ms. Sutherland accidentally hit you with her car a few days ago. It was all an unfortunate mishap. Everyone is in high spirits today, so let’s not bring it up again.”
Having always intended to mend his relationship with Raylee, Alaric enthusiastically greeted her, saying, “Regardless, it’s at good thing you’re here. It’s been four years since our family last gathered, a truly precious occasion! Samuel, hurry up and help your sister to the tablet
Only after hearing his name did Samuel break his silence.
When he saw Kaylee, he didn’t even dare to look directly at her. His feet felt like they were weighed down by a tremendous force, making each step arduous, let alone helping Raylee to her seat.
No need. Just a touch from such a person makes me feel sick!” Raylee exclaimed, her demeanor cold as ice. She limped into the private room with her crutch, approaching Samuel and throwing the blood test report at his face.
“Ray–Ray, what are you doing? What is this? Why are you throwing it at your brother’s face?” Harriet ran over in shock, looking utterly confused as she picked blood test report.

“Ask your dear son what it is. This is my blood test report, the proof that I nearly lost my sanity!” Raylee roared with all her strength and raised her crutch, sending it down toward his body.
“Don’t hit Samuel!” Waverly rushed forward to shield Samuel, taking the blow of the crutch on her body. The pain made her serram out loud.
This was Waverly’s allure and tactic in having the Goodridge family wrapped around her little finger. She had mastered the art of playing the victim to perfection, commonly known as self–imposed suffering for a goal.
The Goodridge family would unconditionally stand by her side for as long as she endured hardships and expressed her grievances.
Kaylee felt no guilt for hitting the wrong person while watching Waverly’s performance. Instead, she regretted not having hit the latter harder.
These siblings are as bad as each other. None of them are any good.
Sure enough, the stunned Samuel instantly became full of vigor and determination when he saw his beloved sister being bullied.
“Take out your anger on me. Why did you hit Wavy? Apologize!” he shouted at Raylee, his expression flushed with fury.
“I was indeed aiming for you. She was the one who foolishly jumped in the way. Tell her to back off. You’re the one who deserves a beating!” Kaylee glared at him fiercely.
Alaric snapped, “Ray–Ray, have you lost your mind? You’re behaving as if you’ve been lit on fire. What has Samuel done to offend you that you want to hit him”
“Indeed. Ray–Ray, today is my birthday. Why are you and your siblings arguing? Could you stop lighting for my sake?” Harriet persuaded.
Suddenly, Waverly’s eyes welled up with tears. “Raylee, today is Mom’s birthday. Can you please stop causing such a chimmotion?” she pleaded, her voice choked with emotion. “It’s all my fault. If only I hadn’t come back. The root of everything lies with me. Raylee, if you stay and celebrate Moin’s birthday, I can leave.”
After saying that, she turned to leave.
Harriet grabbed her arm. “Wavy, this has nothing to do with you. If you leave today, I won’t celebrate my birthday!”

Upon witnessing his wife and daughter being bullied, Alaric immediately stepped forward to reproach Raylee, “What’s so urgent that it can’t wait until later? Do you find satisfaction in disrupting everyone’s mood?”
Observing the nauseating display of affection between this mother and daughter, and faced with the accusations of this entire family, Raylee let out a sarcastic laugh. “Your son, Samuel, forcefully committed me to a psychiatric hospital. In an attempt to escape, I jumped from the third floor and nearly lost my life. May I ask, Mr. and Mrs. Goodridge, would you consider this a trivial matter, or a serious one?”
Upon hearing this, Alaric and Harriet were utterly bewildered.
They clearly couldn’t believe what they were hearing, let alone the fact that their flesh and blood could commit such a heinous act.
Just as they were hoping to get a denial from Samuel, he anxiously exclaimed, “Why did you try to escape? Couldn’t you have just stayed put?”
It fell apart on its own.
“You scoundrel! Why did you confine Ray–Ray in a psychiatric hospital? Have you lost your mind?” Alaric questioned in Janger.
Samuel wore a grim expression, believing he had done nothing wrong. “Dad, I only did this for the sake of our family. Besides, I didn’t let them hurt Ray–Ray, only to confine her,” he argued.
“Didn’t hurt me? Raylee picked up the blood test report on the table and smacked it onto his face again.
“Open your eyes wide and take a good look. This blood test report shows the results of the drug the psychiatrist at the mental hospital injected into me. This kind of drug can cause hallucinations and make one lose their clarity of mind. To put it bluntly, over time, I would become a fool!” she exclaimed.
