Chapter 66 An Act To Gain Sympathy.
“Go ahead, kneel down and how your head!” Raylee scoffed, certain that he would never easily submit.
Indeed, Samuel’s emotions flared up in an instant.
“Dad, have you lost your mind?” He exclaimed, “You expect me to kneel and apologize to her? Who does she think she is?”
“Will you kneel or not? Alaric demanded furiously.
No!” Samuel asserted firmly. “Over my dead body!”
“Good, very good, Ray–Ray, I will ensure justice for you,” he declared. “Now, take this whip and give him a sound thrashing!”
Alaric took out a whip from his carry–on bag and handed it over to Raylee.
Raylee froze for a moment. This whip–it pulled her back to a place buried deep in her memories.
That was the tool Alaric used for disciplining when they were children. Whenever Samuel made a serious mistake, he would use this whip to punish him!
After she grew up, she never saw the whip again.
“You can beat him to your heart’s content, as long as it makes you feel better!” Alaric said without a hint of sympathy. “Just make sure you don’t hold back!”
Harriet wanted to intervene, but the moment she opened her mouth, Alaric shot her a stern look. With tears welling up in her eyes, she swallowed her words.
Anyone who heard these words would know it was a ploy to gain sympathy.
Raylee’s lips curled up in a sarcastic smile. “Look at the state I’m in, do you think I can lift a finger? I’m afraid I’ll have to trouble you to step in for me, Mr. Alaric. Hit him hard, show no mercy!”
“Raylee, you actually have the audacity to incite Dad to hit me! How ridiculous–do you really think Dad will listen to you?” Samuel said, brimming with confidence.
“Shut your mouth, you brat!” Alaric lashed out at him immediately.
“Ah… Dad, how could you actually hit me?” Exclaimed Samuel in disbelief.
The whip struck his buck with force, sending a sharp pain through him as he gritted his teeth.
“I did hit you, and I don’t regret it. After all, it was you who sent Ray–Ray to the inental institution, where she suffered abuse. I should have done more than just hit you. You owe Ray–Ray an apology for the pain she endured!”
Alaric’s gaze was dark and heavy as he landed another whip, this time with even more force than before. In an instant, the pain caused Samuel’s face to contort, turning a deep, pained shade.
Waverly threw caution to the wind and lunged forward, wrapping her arms around him. “Dad,” she pleaded, “if you’re going to hit Samuel, then you’ll have to hit me too!”
“Waverly, this isn’t about you,” Alaric roared in fury, “Your brother is the scoundrel who caused this mess. He must face the consequences!”
“I’m willing to bear the consequences for any brother,” Waverly pleaded through her tears. “Dad, if you must punish someone, let it be me. Please, spare my brother!”
“If you don’t back off now, I’ll whip you too!” Alaric roared in anger.

I’m not leaving, I need to protect Samuel!”
Waverly clung tightly to Samuel, refusing to let go..
Chapter 66 An Act To Gain Sympathy
Samuel’s heart ached terribly. He gently removed Waverly’s hands that were clutching him and advised. “Waverly, as a man, it’s not right for me to let you take the blame for me. Step aside, I don’t want you to get hurt.”
“I know you’re doing this for me, and I am deeply touched. Unlike some, whose sole intent is to take my life!”
While speaking, he shot Raylee a glance.
Waverly had risked her life to protect him–but her? She had done everything in her power to put him in harm’s way
A woman like that wasn’t even worth a single strand of Waverly’s hair.
“You still don’t see your mistake, do you? I ought to kill you, you fool!”
The moment Samuel dared to show even a hint of disrespect toward Raylee. Alaric’s fury boiled over. Without hesitation, he lashed the whip again
Waverly managed to intercept the whip just in time. As it struck her body, the pain was so intense that she couldn’t help but let out a scream. “Ah!”
“Waverly!” Harriet couldn’t bear the sight of such a heartbreaking scene, rushing over in distress.
Alaric halted her. “Let me handle this matter, you’re too soft–hearted.”
Perhaps it had been decided beforehand. Harriet could only step back awkwardly, forcing herself not to interfere
Samuel was furious, “Dad, Waverly is your own flesh and blood, she suffered so much today, she had a brush with death, how could you even think of hitting her?”
“Samuel, I’m fine, I need to protect you!”
Waverly’s eyes were filled with tears, yet she managed to smile at Samuel, revealing her perfect set of teeth.
Her tone and posture were as delicate as a porcelain doll, provoking a strong protective urge in Samuel.
He roared at Raylee, “Are you satisfied now? Is causing discord among my family the thing you enjoy most?”
“Samuel, please stop talking” Harriet pleaded through her sobs. “Apologize to Ray–Ray, then your father will calm down and he won’t hit you anymore!”
I’m not going to apologize, if you dare, then kill me!” Samuel pulled Waverly into his arms, determined not to let her shield him again.
Watching this pair of siblings fiercely defending each other, along with Alaric’s incredibly convincing act to gain sympathy, all Raylee could feel was annoyance.
She wore a stern expression, casting a calm glance toward Samuel.
“Exactly! If apologies were effective, what would be the need for the police?”
