But it was crystal clear to Raylee, the tears she shed were nothing more than crocodile tears.
She pulled out the photograph, retelling the same old story from years ago. It was nothing more than a cheap ploy to play the sympathy card.

Harriet’s jaw dropped in surprise. After everything she had said, Raylee still saw it as nothing more than ulterior motives? As if she were a snake in the grass–scheming, up to no good?
After forcing herself to calm down, Harriet set the photo aside. Then, she took out mushroom soup and red velvet cake from the insulated lunch box.
“Ray–Ray, I made all of these just for you. Regardless, could you at least try a little bit, please? I’m begging you.”
The humble tone, coming from a lady of high status, would certainly have taken any ordinary person by surprise.
Raylee glanced at her with disdain. “I won’t eat the food prepared by someone who wishes me dead, I’m afraid you might poison it!”
“How could that be? I truly didn’t push you down the stairs on purpose, and the idea of poisoning is utterly absurd! I’ll eat to show you!”
In a rushed frenzy, Harriet hastily opened the lunch box. However, she accidentally scalded herself with the piping hot soup. Startled, she loosened her grip and the entire lunch box tumbled to the ground.
Soup residue and pastries were strewn all over the ground, creating a scene of utter chaos.
This scene was witnessed by Waverly who had just arrived in time. She immediately rushed over to defend Harriet.
“Raylee, if you don’t want to eat, that’s fine, but how could you spill the dish that mom put so much effort into making? Do you realize how much time Mommy spent preparing your meal? She spent hours shopping for ingredients and cooking it herself. She wouldn’t even let the nanny help!”
