“It’s okay, Shanice, Casimir is right, the more the merrier. Coming out today and encountering you is also a stroke of fate.”
Yet, Shanice turned her accusations on Raylee. “You’re already engaged, so quit eyeing my brother. Don’t be greedy–wanting what’s in the pot while still eating from the bowl. And if you so much as lay a finger on Waverly, just wait and see how I handle you?”
Jeremiah directed a profound gaze at her, as sharp as an invisible blade, causing Shanice to shudder in fright.
But she had a pent–up feeling in her heart that she needed to let out. She steeled herself and locked eyes with Jeremiah.
Mr. Lorimer, do you have any idea how Raylee used to chase after Casimir? In order to keep this engagement and prevent my brother from leaving her, she even harmed herself! That’s why she’s now stringing my brother along, using her seductive tactics to make him utterly infatuated with her. You need to be cautious. Marrying her would be like inviting infidelity!”
“Is Casimir some kind of treasure? Why should I be hung up on him?” Raylee retorted with a hint of sarcasm.
“Ms. Sutherland, if my memory serves me right, there was a time in your illustrious past when you attempted suicide for a man. Compared to my self–harm, that’s pales in comparison. May I ask, do you still love that man? You must be deeply in love with him, given that your affection drove you to the brink of suicide!”
“Who said I loved him? I wish he were dead!” Shanice was a straightforward person, someone who couldn’t hide her temper.
Kaylee deliberately dredged up those unbearable memories, fueling a deep–seated loathing that burned like a hole inside her. “Why did you have to bring up that despicable man? Are you looking for trouble?”
Kaylee cast her gaze downward, glaring at her. “Exactly, you’re no longer in love with that man. So, on what grounds can you claim I’m still in love with Casimir? Do you understand empathy?”
Shanice was so infuriated that her face turned beet red, her eyes filled with intense hatred.
Waverly quickly stepped in. “Raylee, if you don’t like what Shanice is saying, there’s no need to expose her flaws, right? You know well that these are painful memories for her.”
Rayler didn‘ hold back. “She was quick to call out my flaws. So, is it one rule for the rich and another for the rest of us?
“Ray–Ray’s right,” Jeremiah added, patting her shoulder in reassurance. “She spoke without thinking, hurting others with her words. Now that the talles have turned, she can’t take it? Don’t be upset about people like this. The past is just that, your past, not your fault, I won’t hold it against you.”
Which eye of yours saw me getting angry?” Kaylee flashed him a smile.
“All right, there’s no need for such a crowd anymore. Let’s go our separate ways!”
Samuel shot the two a glance, then led the others in a different direction.
Casimir lingersi, casting a longing glance at Raylee that lasted several seconds. Only when Waverly called for him did he finally tiun and leave.
“Did you catch the way your ex–fiance looked at you? As if he’s the one who’s still hanging on?” Jeremiah asked, a frown ceasing his forehead.
“Who cares?” Raylee shrugged, her expression indifferent.
Feeling Jeremiah’s land still resting on her shoulder, her face suddenly flushes a deep red.

Chapter 78 Holding Her Hand
“Mr. Lorimer, aren’t we supposed to hike? Your hand…”
“Right, we’re hiking now, my dear fiancée. Give me your hand, we don’t want to get lost.”
Jeremiah shifted his hand from around her shoulders to hold her hand instead.

Raylee’s hand, as frail as a withered branch, was held within his warm palm. This sent her heart into a whirlwind of emotions
for a moment.
Mountain climbing was a physically demanding task. The two of them labored for a strenuous two hours before they finally reached the midway point of the mountain.
When Raylee found the location of the mural, she revealed a joyful smile.
All the fatigue had been worth it.
Four years ago, just before she was falsely accused and imprisoned, it had been her grandmother’s birthday.
Upon learning that her grandmother was fond of an ancient mural in Whitehorn Mountain, she decided to create a replica as
gift for her.
Unfortunately, the day of the hike was marred by wind and rain, making the mountain paths treacherous. After a grueling climb halfway up the mountain, she not only failed to see much of the mural, but also lost something of great importance.
She was sent to prison, carrying with her a heavy heart filled with regret and sorrow.
That object….
Looking back now, it was probably for the best that she lost it
Raylee delicately traced the mural with her fingers, before taking out her phone to capture numerous photos from various angles
She planned to recreate it, intending to make up for the birthday gift she hadn’t been able to give her grandmother four years
age
“Ray–kay, come over here, the view is breathtaking!” Jeremiah stood at the edge of the cliff, completely captivated by the distant scenery, basking in the sunlight and enjoying the gentle touch of the breeze.
Kaylee turned her head, only to find herself lost in his deep, ocean–like dark pupils. He slightly curved his lips, revealing a handsome yet wickedly charming smile toward her.
