Chapter 80 The Heart Shaped Pebble
At first glance, the pebble had been buried under dirt for quite some time, which had kept it well–preserved. The spots that had been wiped clean gleamed as if untouched by time.
Waverly took out her keys, revealing that she had fashioned her pebble into a keychain.
In terms of both appearance and quality, it was nearly identical to the one that had just been discovered.
Shanice blurted out, “My goodness, aren’t these the two rare pebbles Casimir bought at the auction years ago? He gave one to Raylee and the other to Wavy! Judging by its appearance, this must be the one he gave to Raylee!”
Once she had spoken, she realized she’d made a mistake, hastily covering her mouth.
Raylee frowned, not denying it.
Four years ago, the significant item she lost halfway up the hill was this pebble.
Waverly felt a storm of emotions brewing within her–a mix of suppressed frustration and quiet sorrow,
She turned her face away, her hands tightly clutching the fabric of her clothing.
She could never have imagined that the sole gift Casimir had given her, a gift she treasured dearly, he had also bestowed upon Raylee!
At that moment, she felt as trapped and frustrated as if she were in a cage.
However, it didn’t take long for Waverly to regain her composure, revealing a generous smile that was as refreshing as a spring breeze.
“I knew that Casimir and Raylee had a close relationship in the past, so it was normal for him to give her gifts. There’s nothing to worry about, Shanice, I’m fine. Since it belongs to you, Raylee, I should return it to its rightful owner. Please, take good care of this valuable item and try not to lose it again.”
With a smile, Waverly handed the pebble to Raylee.
Raylee took the pebble, her thoughts drifting back to four years ago, to the day she visited Whitehorn Mountain to see the murals.
Due to the windy and rainy conditions making the roads difficult to traverse, she took a tumble and lost the pebble she was
carrying
That was a gift Casimir had given her on her eighteenth birthday. It held a special significance, and she treasured it with utmost care and caution
The day she lost it, she cried for the entire day, and those following days, she remained in deep sorrow.
Looking back now, she found her love–struck self from back then quite amusing.
Back then, her love for Casimir was real, and now, so was the hatred.
Perhaps losing the pebble had been a sign all along a quiet omen that her relationship with Casimir was never meant to be whole.
Jeremiah couldn’t help tease. “Mr. Sutherland, your actions remind me of a certain male celebrity who gifted each of his girlfriends a pebble. Is there a special meaning behind this?”
Once Rayler snapped back to reality, she thought that Jeremiah’s sarcastic remarks were subtly hinting at her longing for the
She said calmly. “Let the past stay in the past. This pebble–it’s time it went back to its rightful owner”
Having said that, she returned the pebble to Casimir.

Casimir frowned, saying, “Once I’ve given something away, I don’t take it back. If you don’t want it, feel free to throw it away!”
“All right!” Without any hesitation, Raylee tossed the pebble off the cliff.
Casimir looked at her in disbelief.
He was merely making an offhand remark, but she actually went ahead and did it!
In that instant, his heart felt as if it had been torn to shreds, aching with an intensity akin to being engulfed in flames.
He vividly remembered the day when Raylee lost the pebble, She had come to him in tears, seeking solace, and had even asked him to gift her another one just like it.
Back then, she truly cherished the gifts he gave her.
As time passed, she became indifferent. She no longer cared about him, nor the gifts he had given her…..
Shanice shot an exasperated look at Casimir, whose face was clouded with despair. Irritated, she said, “Casimir, that pebble of yours is worth a fortune. It was bad enough that this woman lost it four years ago, but now she’s gone and tossed it away like it meant nothing. She’s taken your kindness for granted–what is there to be upset about? Look at Waverly instead. She turned hers into a keychain, keeping it close no matter where she goes. Doesn’t that prove who truly values you?”
Waverly was grateful to Shanice for voicing her feelings. She rugged at Casimir’s sleeve, her eyes red as she said, “Casimir, I’m your fiancee, you know, Can I be the only one you give gifts to in the future?”
Regaining his composure, Casimir looked at the pitiful sight of Waverly before him. Only then did he realize that his actions and attitude had been far too harsh.
He had deeply hurt Waverly. Yet, instead of being angry, this girl was rather naive, pleading for him to change his ways in the future.
He was only human, how could he not be moved?
And so, he softened his tone, agreeing. “All right!”
“Yay, I knew you’re the nicest to me!” Waverly was as happy as a child.
She subtly shot Raylee a boastful glance in secret.
Rayler looked at Casimir, her voice carrying a hint of indifference. Mr. Sutherland, when the pebble was returned to me, 1 felt nothing. But when it was discarded, I felt something”
Casimir’s eyes lit up.
But then, Raylee’s tone shifted abruptly, she said coldly, “It feels like a weight has been lifted, we have finally set clear boundaries between us,
