She was sure she had him right where she wanted. But in the next second–Max shoved her away.
Before she could react, he grabbed her wrist and twisted her arm behind her, pinning her against the edge of the bed.
“Ah! That hurts!” Liliana let out a sharp gasp, eyes wide with shock. “Maxie, you’re hurting me! Let go!“Z

“Who sent you?” His breathing was still uneven, but his voice carried a cold, mocking edge, laced with a hint of amusement. With one hand, he gripped his phone, typing something quickly.”
“Maxie, what are you talking about? I don’t understand.“}
Max didn’t waste another second on her. With a swift, precise strike to the back of Liliana’s neck, he knocked her unconscious.
Still unsteady, he staggered toward the bathroom, turning the shower to its coldest setting. The icy water did little to calm the fire raging through his veins, but he gritted his teeth and endured it.”
His eyes narrowed instinctively. There were too many threats lurking in the shadows–but for now, he could still handle them.

Not long after, his bodyguards and personal doctor arrived. A quick examination confirmed what Max had already suspected–the air in the room had been laced with a potent stimulant, designed to heighten male arousal.
“Boss, this is a newly developed compound, used in certain elite circles to… enhance experiences. It’s not harmful to the body and hasn’t been released to the public yet. Only high–profile individuals have access to it.”
The bodyguard hesitated before adding, “This woman… she’s not who she claims to be.”
A girl fresh out of college, just starting her career–how the hell could she have gotten her hands on something like that?! Max’s jaw tightened, a muscle twitching in his cheek. His fury was palpable, dark and simmering just beneath the surface. Through gritted teeth, he spat out a single command.”

His men conducted a thorough sweep of the room, turning over every inch. Soon enough, they uncovered several tiny, hidden cameras–each one perfectly positioned, all angled toward the bed. Their purpose was painfully obvious.
Max’s expression turned to stone, his gaze dark as a storm cloud.

A moment ago, Max had felt a sliver of guilt toward Liliana. Now, there was nothing left but cold disgust. Whoever thought they could set him up like this had made a grave mistake. They’d learn soon enough–anyone who tried to play him would regret it.”
Liliana jolted awake with a sharp scream as a bucket of ice–cold water crashed over her.”

Her entire body shuddered from the shock, her breath catching in ragged gasps. She was drenched, freezing and completely disoriented.
