The message was from Angel, who had killed herself.
It was an address.
My mother sped down the road with tears streaming down her face as she murmured, “I knew you weren’t dead. You are so kindhearted that even God wouldn’t take you away from me.”
I was speechless. After all, she made it seem like I was so terrible that God wanted me to be dead.
She burst through the door and rushed into the house at the address.
Angel was handcuffed as she sat on a chair and was surrounded by six officers.
My mother rushed her over and hugged her tightly as she cried, “You must have suffered so much, Angel. Don’t worry, I’ll take you home…”
Before she could finish her words, Officer John pulled her away. “Get a grip of yourself!”
My mother was bewildered. Then, she noticed the handcuffs on Angel’s wrists and instinctively tried to tear them off.
Officer John sighed deeply as he looked at her frantic state with pity in his eyes.

Chapter 9 The Truth
“You can’t take her home, Elina. She’s a murderer.”
My mother was in disbelief upon hearing his statement. “What are you talking about? The murderer is Melissa! You got the wrong person!”
“Melissa is dead. She killed her,” Officer John said tiredly.
My mother was stunned. Then, she slowly turned to look at him.
“You hung up before I could finish my words,” he continued. “Her DNA is different from both Angel’s and Melissa’s. However, she shares 95 percent of her DNA with them. The killer is neither the real Angel nor Melissa. Eight years ago, did someone named Vanessa die in your family?”
