My expression turned cold as I pointed out a flaw in Karen’s words. “Did I ever say that you’re the mistress? I didn’t, so why are you taking the blame on yourself? Or are you actually guilty? Is that why you’re desperately trying to prove yourself?”
Karen was about to retort but realized that she couldn’t come up with a reply. She then fell silent.
I shot a sharp glance around the room. Embarrassed, the bystanders lowered their heads when they realized what I said. Even William was at a loss for words.
I pushed past everyone while they quietened down, walking briskly over to the frost desk of the repair shop.
I found the staff and said, “I want to check the surveillance footage. Did you not notice someone tampering with a car in your shop without any legitimate reason?
“It’s just the dashboard camera this time, but what if someone tampers with the brakes and causes an accident while I’m on the road?”
The staff looked horrified, trembling as he called for the manager.
The manager looked unbothered as he calmly replied, “Sorry, but the shop’s surveillance camera has been down for the past few days, so there’s nothing on record.”
I stared at the manager until sweat started beading on his forehead. Only then did I tear my gaze away, chuckling ominously.
Karen truly surprised me every time. No wonder she refused to let us go back to our usual repair shop when William said he was taking the car for servicing. She insisted we try out this place instead.
It seemed like this shop also had some shady connection to Wilbur, allowing them plenty of room to manipulate things. This was probably why I was running into so many obstacles while trying to obtain evidence.
No wonder Karen and Wilbur’s affair was never exposed, even after such a long time. It seemed the two of them were extremely cautious about it.
Everyone soon noticed how strange the entire incident was
Someone asked, “Why would something always happen every time a piece of evidence is found?”
Another said, “That’s right–it’s too much of a coincidence!‘
