Emma had been waiting for quite a while. She figured perhaps Nathan was reluctant to see her, and she contemplated whether she should barge in.
Just then, someone approached. “Ms. Patel, Mr. Carter has requested for me to escort you upstairs.”
“Okay.” Emma flashed a triumphant smile. It seems I’ve done the right thing
Upon entering the office, she caught sight of Nathan’s familiar figure. A wave of excitement stirred in Emma’s heart, yet she maintained her usual gentle demeanor.
“Nathan,” Emma greeted affectionately.
Nathan lifted his gaze, his eyes devoid of warmth as he looked at her. Cutting to the chase, he asked, “Why are you here?”
He spoke indifferently as if Emma, who was standing before him, was a mere stranger.
Emma couldn’t help but feel slightly disheartened and annoyed. Still, she explained her intentions with a smile, “I’m here today to urge you to consider handing the industrial park project to Patel Group.”
As if worried Nathan wouldn’t agree, Emma quickly added, “Recently, Patel Group has hired an IT technician from overseas. He’s a graduate of Swordridge University with exceptional technology skills. We’ve put a lot of effort into acquiring him. I’m confident that our team is capable of handling this job.”
After she finished speaking, she looked at Nathan with anticipation.
Nathan furrowed his brows, his expression hesitant. There’s no denying that the system developed by Patel Group is impressive domestically, but…
Emma was determined to realize that collaboration. Therefore, she said, “Nathan, our families are so familiar with each other. It’s comforting to work together, and if there are any issues, we can resolve them promptly.”
Initially, Nathan was somewhat hesitant, but upon hearing those words, his astute mind instantly understood Emma’s intention.

When she heard there was still a chance, Emma let out a silent sigh of relief. A smile found its way back. onto her face as she hastily responded, “All right. I’ll go back and prepare the proposal right away.”
As long as he was willing to give her a chance, she was open to doing anything.
Still… Emma hesitated momentarily before tentatively asking, “Nathan, may I know who the other company is?”
If she could learn the identity of her competitor, she could strategize accordingly.
Nathan glanced at her, but he didn’t respond directly. Instead, he said, “The other party didn’t give a clear response, so I can’t disclose anything at the moment.”
Emma’s expression stiffened for a moment. Forcing a smile, she said, “All right, then.”
After stepping out of Carter–Group, Emma immediately instructed Fabian as soon as she got into the car, “Find out which other companies in the country have the capability to compete for this project.”
Fabian noticed her grimace. After much hesitation, he finally braced himself and said, “Ms. Patel, there actually is one. It’s called Horizon Ventures.”
