Upon arriving at Carter Group, Olivia saw Ethan, who had been waiting outside, as soon as she stepped out
of the car.
She raised her eyebrows in surprise, then led Benjamin over.
“Ms. Monroe, good to see you. I’ve been waiting specifically for you,” respectfully stated Ethan.
Olivia nodded slightly. “Thanks for the trouble.”
She didn’t think much about it, nor did she realize that was specifically instructed by Nathan.
Ethan led them to the conference room located on the top floor. By the time they arrived, Emma had already been there.
Upon entering the conference room and seeing Emma, Olivia was momentarily taken aback. However, she quickly regained her composure and, accompanied by Benjamin, proceeded to take her seat.
Throughout the entire time, she didn’t so much as glance Emma’s way, showing absolutely no intention of greeting the latter.
Emma glared at Olivia, teeth clenched in secret, with the jealousy in her heart clearly etched on her face.
Emma believed it was Ethan who personally went downstairs to welcome Olivia, and that it must have been
Nathan’s idea, while she herself was never accorded such treatment.
With those thoughts, her resentment toward Olivia grew even more, to the point where it was almost unbearable.
Ethan brought a glass of water over to Olivia, saying, “The CEO will be here soon.”
Olivia gave a slight nod, indicating her understanding.
After Ethan left, the conference room returned to its peaceful state.
Emma looked at the woman across from her. Seeing how Olivia no longer had the timid demeanor from back in the day, Emma felt even more irritated. What on earth is good about this despicable person? Surprisingly, she managed to capture Nathan’s significant attention! Since she had the audacity to show up today, I’m going to make sure she knew what it felt like to be utterly embarrassed!
Thus, Emma sneered, her voice laced with sarcasm as she said, “Olivia, I wonder where you found the courage to step into this place. Don’t you feel the slightest bit of guilt in your heart?”
Olivia’s gaze dropped as she delicately picked up her drink and took a sip. Her expression remained indifferent, as though she hadn’t heard her words at all.
A hint of malice sparkled in Emma’s eyes as she continued, “This very place was built from scratch ‘ Mr. Daniel years ago. The company still stands, but he’s gone. I truly wonder how you can sit here so comfortably?”
Her words were laced with biting sarcasm as if Olivia was some kind of criminal who should not be provoked.
Finally, Olivia showed signs of impatience, abruptly placing her cup on the table with a clatter.

Then, she lifted her gaze, her icy look falling on Emma’s face. She spoke slowly. “Ms. Patel, are you perhaps too idle? If that’s the case, why not check your own system to see if you can beat me before you concern yourself with other people’s affairs?”
Emma casually spread her hands, exuding an aura of confidence. “Beating you, that’s a piece of cake.”
“Really?” Olivia raised an eyebrow. “But Ms. Patel, whether I feel guilty or not, what does it have to do with you? Besides, we barely know each other, so stop talking to me!”
Immediately, Emma’s face flushed with anger. Yet, she found herself at a loss for words, only able to glare at her furiously.
If looks could kill, Olivia believed she would have died countless times by then.
At that moment, Nathan walked in, immediately noticing that Olivia’s complexion wasn’t looking too good.
In reality, Emma’s words did not leave her completely unaffected.
Moreover, following Emma’s reminder, she couldn’t help but recall those past grudges and favors.
Back then, the mysterious deaths of her parents and Nathan’s father had occurred. Even then, the exact circumstances remained unclear.
Yet, after so many years, the blame still clung stubbornly to her parents, no matter how hard they tried to shake it off.
Reflecting on the past, Olivia scowled.
If it hadn’t been for Horizoh Ventures, she really would have wanted to get up and leave.
