Chapter 137 Unwilling To Let Her Go
That day, due to matters concerning King, she had visited the underground marketplace. As a result, Olivia was indeed exhausted.
Originally, she just wanted to take a brief rest, not wanting to fall asleep completely because of Nathan’s presence.
Unexpectedly, she accidentally fell asleep as soon as she leaned against the couch.
Subsequently, pin–drop silence filled the air inside the room.
Nathan held William and sat on the edge of the bed, his deep gaze fixed on Olivia’s profile.
She slept with her head turned to the side, showing only half of her face, yet he found himself gazing at her for an extended period, so long that his hand began to ache.
Nathan pulled his gaze away and gently placed William onto the sickbed. Only after tucking William in did he turn to walk toward Olivia.
“Perhaps feeling cold, Olivia let out a soft murmur, wrapping her arms around herself.
Seeing that, Nathan took off his coat and gently draped it over her.
Even when Nathan was in such close proximity, Olivia remained totally oblivious and slept without any guard up.
Nathan curled his lips in resignation, gazing at Olivia unblinkingly as if he wanted to etch her image into his mind. Her features are just as they were five years ago, but the youthful naivety is no longer there. She has matured significantly, becoming much more beautiful. Moreover, she’s surrounded by a number of exceptional men.
At that thought, Nathan narrowed his eyes, feeling frustration surging within him. This woman probably has no idea just how easily she attracts unwanted attention.
He couldn’t help but pinch her cheek.
However, he didn’t exert too much force. The delicate and soft touch caused the look in his eyes to darken slightly.
At that instant, he truly didn’t want to let go.
Unfortunately, fearing he might wake her, Nathan could only let go in reluctance.
He watched her quietly for a while before turning around and returning to sit by the bed.
Olivia had been in a deep sleep. When she woke up again, it was because William’s cries jolted her awake.
William, feeling uncomfortable, was whimpering and crying.
Nathan held William gently, soothing his son in a soft voice.
When Olivia opened her eyes and saw the scene in front of her, she couldn’t help but be moved and captivated, watching their interaction in a daze.
In the end, William’s cries pulled her back to her senses.
She got up in haste, and the coat draped over her fell to the ground.
Olivia realized that was Nathan’s coat.
She bent down to pick it up, a distinct scent of his seeping into her nostrils, stirring an unusual sensation deep within her
heart.
However, she didn’t have time to dwell on that, so she casually tossed the coat onto the couch and briskly walked over.
“What’s going on?” She noticed William’s cheeks were flushed again and quickly reached out to touch William’s forehead. Her brows furrowed. Why is his body temperature rising again?

Olivia nodded and said, “I’ll summon the doctor over.”
With that, she hastened out of the ward.
Before long, the doctor arrived.
The doctor took William’s temperature, and seeing that it was higher than before, his expression turned grave. “This recurring fever is too much for the child to handle. I suggest we administer an IV drip to let the fever subside faster.”
Originally, Olivia didn’t want William to receive an IV drip because it was too torturous. However, given the current situation, it was the only choice left.
“We’ll do as you say,” Olivia agreed.
The doctor picked up the medical record, penning down notes as he asked, “Does the child have any known drug allergies?”
“Yes.” Olivia mentioned the names of two types of medicine.
After making the notes, the doctor nodded and said, “All right, I got it. A nurse will be here shortly to start an IV drip for the child. It might sting a bit, so you’ll need to comfort the child and keep him still to avoid having to endure multiple needle insertion attempts.”
“Okay.” Olivia’s heart ached as she thought of William having to endure another injection.
Nathan quietly observed her interaction with the doctor, his gaze darkening slightly. It must’ve been quite a challenge for her to raise our son alone over the years.
