Emily didn’t hold back. She sneered. “DNA tests can be faked. In any case, I won’t believe…” She turned to Nathan. “You too, Nathan. Why do you believe everything others say? Don’t you know who Olivia is? You’re already engaged to Emma. Don’t let some malicious person ruin it!”

As his mother’s remarks grew more outrageous, Nathan’s expression hardened and grew colder. “If you came here to say these things. Please leave. I have my own judgment. I’ve already sent someone to verify whether the DNA test is real. The truth will come out sooner or later.” After that, Nathan ignored his mother and went to the study with Liam.

As soon as the door closed, Emily was shut out. She stared at the closed door with an erratic expression. Emily only had one thought in her mind. She couldn’t let this child be a part of the family no matter what!

In the study, Liam was slightly upset because of Emily’s words. Although he was young, he could sense her hostility. His grandmother disliked him and his mother and refused to acknowledge him as her grandson! He couldn’t help but think of the DNA test. What if the test shows I’m not Daddy’s son? Then, I won’t have a daddy!

Upon thinking of this possibility, he felt so sad that he immediately hugged Nathan’s long legs. He looked up and said, “I like you, Daddy. I hope you’re my daddy. I don’t want anyone else to be my daddy…” The child’s voice was soft and tender. His eyes reddened, and he looked pitiful with his aggrieved expression.

Nathan thought that Emily’s words must have upset the child. His heart softened, and he bent down to pick Liam up and comfort him. “I hope so, too.” He wasn’t usually fond of children, but Liam was an exception. Liam cheered up after hearing it. He hugged Nathan’s neck tightly and nodded furiously. “Mm. You must be my daddy.”

The two stayed in the study for a while until Ethan knocked. He reported, “Mr. Carter, Mr. Quince from Sphaera Group invited you to meet at four o’clock this afternoon to discuss your partnership. He’ll be flying to Moreana at seven o’clock tonight and won’t be back for at least a month!”

“Why so sudden?” Nathan had postponed all his work today, including the meeting with Sphaera, to be with Liam. Ethan had a grim expression. “Mr. Quince has reportedly been unwell for a long time. He’s going abroad for treatment, so time is tight.”

Nathan hesitated and glanced at Liam, who was very understanding. “Dad, if you’re busy, go ahead. I’ll be fine.” Upon hearing this, Nathan didn’t hesitate any longer. He ruffled Liam’s hair and said, “Be a good boy and stay home. I’ll come back earlier to eat with you.”

“Okay.” Liam nodded. Nathan instructed Ethan, “Stay here with him. I’ll meet Mr. Quince.”

“Alright,” Ethan answered.

As Nathan went downstairs, he looked around for Emily but didn’t see her, so he assumed she had left. Hence, he departed, feeling relieved. However, Emily had never left! After all, she felt uneasy with a child at home, especially since it was Olivia’s child. She naturally hurried up the stairs when she saw her son leave.

At that moment, Ethan led Liam to his bedroom, which had just been decorated a few days ago. There was a new bed, desk, wardrobe, and shelves filled with countless limited–edition action figures, robots, and storybooks. There was even a pile of unopened new toys on the side, including LEGOS and puzzles. Almost everything Liam could think of was in the room.

However, when he saw the room, Liam didn’t show much interest in those toys. Instead, he was highly intrigued by the gaming console. He asked Ethan eagerly, “Mr. Ethan, will you play with me?”
