He was about to turn away when a sudden thought struck him. He looked back and asked, tentatively, “Mr. Carter, should it be sent out under your name?”
Nathan looked at him. “What do you think?”
Immediately, Ethan fell silent, simultaneously berating himself harshly in his mind.
Why did I ask such a senseless question?
He’s looking at me as if I’m an imbecile!
He quickly turned around to handle the matter, hoping to salvage his image in Nathan’s eyes.
The following day, early in the morning, Olivia returned to her office after finishing a meeting.
Benjamin walked in and reported, “Ms. Olivia, Mr. Bovril of Sphaera Group has been away on a business trip recently. The discussions regarding system collaboration will have to be postponed until next week.”
Olivia’s brows furrowed slightly. “A business trip?”
“Yes, it seems that Mr. Bovril is attending a grand opening party at a client’s resort this weekend.”
“All right.” Olivia nodded, saying nothing more.
At that moment, the secretary came in with an envelope in hand, placing it before Olivia. “Ms. Monroe, your letter.”
Olivia nodded slightly, then proceeded to open the envelope.
She had assumed it was a letter from some bank. However, when she opened it and saw the golden letters spelling out “Carter Group,” she was taken aback.
It was an invitation letter.
The invitation detailed the completion of a hot spring resort under Carter Group, and she was invited to attend the grand opening party.
After some thought, Olivia frowned, picked up her phone, and dialed Nathan’s number.
Apart from this collaborative project, she had thought there probably wouldn’t be any further involvement with Nathan.
She held the invitation in her hand, her expression slightly tense.
The call was picked up quickly on the other end. “Hello, this is Ethan.”
It wasn’t Nathan’s voice but his assistant’s.
After gathering her thoughts, Olivia asked, “Mr. Thompson, what’s the meaning of this invitation?”
“Ms. Monroe, all our company clients have received the invitations this time. We hope you can grace us

Olivia understood the nature of the event, yet she wasn’t particularly keen on attending.

“Indeed, he too has received an invitation.”
Olivia couldn’t help but smile. So, it is that coincidental.

When Ethan heard her agreement to attend, relief washed over him. Finally, he could report back to Nathan.
“Ms. Monroe, we’ve set the time for this weekend. We’ve arranged a two–day, two–night hotel stay for you, where everything will be complimentary during your stay. You’re also welcome to bring your family along.” “Two days and two nights?” Olivia had assumed it would be a round trip within the same day.
“Mr. Carter was concerned that everyone might be too exhausted from traveling back and forth in a single day, so he specifically arranged for a two–day, two–night trip, ensuring everyone could fully enjoy themselves.”
“All right, I understand.”
After hanging up the phone, Olivia stared at the invitation for quite some time before finally setting it aside.
Every time she wanted to distance herself from Nathan, something would always happen.
