After giving it some thought, he felt it necessary to inform Nathan about the matter.
When Nathan learned about it, his handsome face was shrouded in gloom, and his lips were pursed.
Ethan felt a strong chill emanating from his body, making him shiver involuntarily.
In the past, when Nathan received such news, he generally wouldn’t pay much attention to it.
He adhered to the belief that innocence required no defense. He felt that any additional explanation would only serve to further cloud the situation.
But things were different now. It wouldn’t be good if Liam were to see it.
He slowly narrowed his eyes, his voice deep as he asked, “Is someone spreading the word mindlessly, or is someone orchestrating this intentionally?”
Upon hearing his question, Ethan instantly caught on. “If this was unintentional, then it’s no big deal. But if someone orchestrated this intentionally, then we have a serious problem.” At this point, he couldn’t help but express his concern. “The biggest fear with such rumors is that as they continue to spread, they eventually get accepted as truth.”
Nathan wore a serious expression, remaining silent.
Ethan felt that things couldn’t just continue like this, so he suggested, “Mr. Carter, how about I look into it?”
“Look into it?” Nathan scoffed. “If it was orchestrated intentionally, would there be any need to look into it? I know who’s behind it.”
He had long harbored suspicions in his heart.

“Mr. Carter, what should we do now?” Ethan asked.
Nathan tapped his fingers lightly on the table, looking thoughtful.
Seeing this, Ethan fell silent. He knew that Nathan was already contemplating a counter–strategy.
After a long pause, Nathan slowly began, “Send out a few more invitations for me.”
“Huh?” Ethan was taken aback.
“Every heiress of the high society should have an invitation. Let them all attend this party.”
Ethan was utterly at a loss, unable to fathom Nathan’s thoughts. In his confusion, he asked, “Why?”
Nathan looked at him quietly for a while, not offering any hint. “Have you become less sharp lately?”
His voice subtly carried a hint of displeasure.
A sudden pang of apprehension struck Ethan’s heart, filling him with the unsettling feeling that he could be replaced at any moment.
He didn’t dare to ask another question and hastily said, “Mr. Carter, I know what to do now.”
