Upon leaving Nathan’s office, Ethan immediately acted according to Nathan’s instructions, sending out invitation letters to the high society’s renowned ladies and heiresses.
Feeling that it wasn’t enough, he summoned the manager of the media company under their corporate
group.
“I asked you to come over because I need your help to release some news,” Ethan stated his intentions outright.
The manager readily agreed, “I will certainly do my best to complete the tasks assigned by you, Mr. Thompson.”
Ethan revealed a satisfied smile.
“So… what news are you planning to release, Mr. Thompson?” the manager asked cautiously.
“Hmm…” After a moment of contemplation, Ethan said, “I want the headline of the news to be sensational, something that can really draw people in.”
“Huh?” The manager was somewhat unclear about his meaning.
“For instance, ‘A gathering of socialites, is this a grand opening party or Mr. Carter’s matrimonial selection event?‘ or perhaps ‘A gathering of socialites, who possesses the best temperament?” Ethan casually gave two examples. “In any case, the headlines should be along those lines.”
Upon hearing such a headline, the manager was completely unsettled.
Isn’t this headline just a blatant attempt to defame and tarnish the reputation of Mr. Carter?
Why is Mr. Thompson doing this?
Does he have a death wish?
Or is he just looking for an excuse to get me fired, so he’s setting me up like this?
Upon this realization, the manager pleaded hastily, “Mr. Thompson, if I’ve offended you in any way, I apologize. If I’ve made any mistakes in my work, I promise to correct them!”
The manager was on the verge of tears.
Ethan was caught between laughter and tears. He quickly reassured him, “Don’t worry. This is an order from Mr. Carter. You just need to follow it.”
“An order from Mr. Carter?” The manager thought he had misheard.
“Yes, an order from Mr. Carter.”
The manager still couldn’t believe it. “Why would Mr. Carter issue such an order? This is a matter concerning his reputation!”
“Don’t worry about all the details. Just release the news,” said Ethan, patting his shoulder reassuringly. “This matter has nothing to do with you. The company won’t fire you.”

“There is.” Ethan walked over, a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth. “Make sure this matter is handled discreetly. We don’t want anyone to realize it’s the work of Carter Group.”

The manager gave a nod. “Understood.”
“If you handle this task well, there’s a good chance for a promotion.”
The manager didn’t harbor any lofty aspirations of a promotion. All he wished for was that the situation would unfold as Ethan had described.
After returning, the manager immediately drafted the article and sent it out.
In a flash, all sorts of rumors began to run rampant on the internet.
Within less than a day, no one brought up the topic of Nathan’s impending marriage announcement again.
News about Nathan’s selection of a wife had overshadowed everything else.
When Emma saw the news online, she was livid. She slammed her mouse onto the desk forcefully and cursed in frustration, “What is this mess? Who is responsible for these press releases? How can they be so unprofessional?”
Fabian stood by, not daring to utter a word.
Despite her marriage to Nathan making the trending list, its popularity was short–lived and was quickly removed.
The more Emma thought about it, the more upset she was. Everything had deviated completely from the direction she had anticipated.
“Fabian, do you know which media company is responsible for this foolish act?” she asked sternly.
Fabian quickly mentioned the names of several media companies.
Emma found out that they were all tabloid media, ones she had never even heard of before.
