As Nathan arrived back at his residence, he immediately embarked on a fervent search for a picture frame.
Given that he seldom kept photographs around, his search proved fruitless, prompting him to seek
assistance.
“Do we have any picture frames in the house?” he inquired, his voice tinged with urgency.
The butler, caught off guard by the request, managed a nod. “Yes, it’s in the storage room.”
Nathan’s demeanor brightened instantly, urging, “Please, find it quickly.”
Together, they ventured into the cluttered confines of the storage room. The butler sifted through the assortment of items until he uncovered a picture frame of pure white, its edges kissed by a golden hue that hinted at its age.
Handing it over, he simply stated, “Here, Mr. Carter.”
Nathan examined the frame, its simplicity contrasted by the elegance of the aged gold trim.
Puzzled, he questioned, “When did we acquire this?”
The butler’s response came hesitantly. “Ms. Monroe left this behind…”

It was a detail that Nathan found both surprising and unfamiliar, as he had no memory of ever seeing it before.
Without dwelling further, Nathan took the frame to his room, selecting from the photos he had brought back a tender moment between Olivia and Liam.
The photograph, capturing a scene of Liam’s early steps under Olivia’s careful guidance, radiated warmth and affection.
Nathan’s heart softened as he placed the photo into the frame, setting it on his bedside table, positioned so it would be the last thing he saw at night and the first upon waking.
That evening, post–bath, Nathan found himself lying in bed, his gaze fixed on the photograph, lost in the captured moment, sleep eluding him as he pondered the image before him.
The next day, Olivia, accompanied by colleagues, arrived at Carter Group to finalize the system upgrade.
Having completed the system upgrade the night before, which she deemed flawless, her objective was to officially hand over the updated system to Carter Group’s IT technicians.
“Mr. Carter, Ms. Monroe and her team are here,” Ethan announced as he briskly entered Nathan’s office. Nathan, momentarily pausing his work, looked up with a casual air, inquiring, “Where are they?”
“The IT department’s conference room,” Ethan replied.
