When she heard about his injury, concern creased her brow. “Is he badly hurt? How is he doing now?”
“He’s stable,” Joker reassured.
Relief washed over Olivia. “That’s a relief. I’m glad to hear he’s all right.”
“Olivia, it’s crucial you complete the task I’ve given you.” Joker’s voice took on a stern tone.
Even though he couldn’t see her, Olivia nodded decisively. “I understand.”
After the weighty discussion, Olivia expressed concern for Joker’s well–being, urging him to prioritize his health.
“I know, you too. When you have time, let Liam video call me. tell him I miss him.”
With a soft chuckle, Olivia responded, “All right.”
After a few more exchanges, they bid each other farewell and ended the call.
Minutes later, Olivia’s inbox pinged with an email from Joker.
She opened it promptly, perusing it attentively.
The email contained an address in the neighboring city of Attlewich.
The address led to a base belonging to an organization called the Dark Syndicate.
Olivia found herself entirely ignorant of this group. After digesting the email, she summoned Benjamin.
“Benjamin, have you heard of an organization called the ‘Dark Syndicate‘?”
Benjamin nodded knowingly. “Yes, they’re quite notorious. The Dark Syndicate maintains intricate ties with foreign powers and is one of the most influential forces within our country.”
“Most influential?” Olivia’s frown deepened. She hadn’t anticipated the Dark Syndicate to wield such formidable influence.
“Yes, however…” Benjamin paused briefly before elaborating, “The most influential force within the country is an organization called ‘Godkiller. Despite its dramatic name, its operations remain discreet and enigmatic.”
Olivia absorbed Benjamin’s explanation with keen interest, her expression pensive.
Noticing her contemplative demeanor, Benjamin inquired with curiosity, “Ms. Olivia, why the sudden
interest?”
He sensed there must be a reason behind her inquiry.
Meeting Benjamin’s gaze, Olivia revealed softly, “Shadow has been injured.”
“What?” Benjamin’s surprise was palpable. “How did it happen?”

Benjamin’s expression darkened upon hearing this news. “Shadow’s skills were unparalleled. He ranked among the top masters in Mystical Alcazar.” His eyes narrowed in contemplation. “Whoever managed to harm him must be formidable indeed.”
“That’s precisely what I was thinking,” Olivia responded, scoffing with a hint of disdain. “But regardless of their skill, we must seek justice for Shadow.”
“Ms. Olivia, is this task assigned by Joker?” Benjamin inquired, seeking clarification.
“Yep,” Olivia affirmed with a nod, forwarding him the email. “I’ve sent you the address and some information. Go investigate Dark Syndicate and gather intel.”
“No problem,” Benjamin acknowledged, getting ready to leave.
“Wait,” Olivia halted him.
Turning back, Benjamin was met with Olivia’s icy countenance. Her tone chilled the air as she instructed, “If possible, attend the Carter Group’s party in Attlewich this weekend. Take care of this matter while you’re at it.”
It was rare to see Olivia so serious, and Benjamin found himself momentarily surprised. However, he quickly composed himself, nodding in understanding. “Understood.”
Benjamin then hurried off on his mission.
Watching him leave, Olivia brought her hand to her temples, massaging them gently. A subtle crease formed in her eyebrows, her gaze distant and detached.
For some reason, an unsettling premonition gnawed at her heart, hinting that something might go awry this
time.
Attempting to dispel her unease, Olivia shook her head briskly, admonishing herself to stop overthinking.
Yet, despite her efforts, the furrow in her brows persisted. She silently hoped she was worried about nothing.
