Glancing briefly at Olivia, Emma stepped forward to explain, “Mrs. Carter, Horizon Ventures is also on the guest list for the party.”
“What?” Emily’s expression shifted instantly, her gaze turning accusingly toward Nathan. With a sarcastic huff, she remarked, “So, one collaboration and suddenly they’re VIPs? You’re extending invitations to just about anyone now, aren’t you?”
The revelation that her son had extended an invitation to Olivia caught Emily off guard. He’s intentionally trying to piss me off! There’s no way I’ll allow this b*tch to show up at the event.
Olivia’s lips curved slightly in a sardonic smile. Emily is just as mean as ever after all these years.
In the past, Olivia might have been troubled by Emily’s hostility, but now, she remained unaffected.
Nathan’s countenance displayed unmistakable displeasure, but he chose not to make a scene to avoid his mother’s endless nagging.
Emma feigned a gentle and sensible demeanor to soothe Emily. “Mrs. Carter, Horizon Ventures is still our client although we’ve only collaborated once. Plus, we’ve already sent the invitation. It wouldn’t be appropriate to retract it now. Please, don’t be upset.”
Emily’s brows knit together in frustration. “You were aware of this?”
“Yes,” Emma replied calmly, her smile serene. “I’ve discussed the matter with Nate.”
Implicitly, she aimed to assert her closeness with Nathan, perhaps as a subtle display of her influence within the situation.
Although Emma’s words were directed at Emily, Olivia knew they were meant for her ears. This woman’s pretty cunning.
Emma glanced over, plastering a fake smile over her face as she remarked, “I hadn’t anticipated you to depart so early. With the morning’s opening ceremony demanding our attention, I’m afraid we won’t be able to entertain you.”
Initially, Olivia had intended to ignore them. However, a surge of repulsion welled up within her when she heard Emma’s words. Her features hardened as she responded icily, “Ms. Patel, you’re reading too much into it. I have other matters to attend to; the party isn’t the only reason for my trip to Attlewich.”
A flicker of curiosity flashed in Nathan’s eyes. If that’s the case, why is she headed to Attlewich?
“We’ll be leaving first if there’s nothing else,” Olivia stated tersely. With a swift glance at Nathan, she donned her sunglasses and, without a backward glance, strode into the airport terminal alongside Benjamin.

burned with embarrassment.
“She had better not dare show up at the party,” Emily muttered icily as she watched Olivia’s departing figure.
She still clung to the hope that her son would spend the evening nurturing his relationship with Emma. Olivia’s presence threatened to derail her plans entirely.

The recent encounter had thoroughly soured Olivia’s mood. The warmth that had adorned her features dissipated, replaced by an icy demeanor.
The possibility of encountering Emily and Emma at the party later that evening gave her a headache.
After Benjamin completed the check–in process, he approached Olivia and said, “Ms. Olivia, it’s time to board.”
Throughout the security check and while waiting at the terminal, Olivia didn’t catch sight of Nathan and his group again, and she sighed in relief.
Once aboard the plane, Olivia located her seat and settled in. She lowered the window shade and reclined ir her chair, preparing for a brief nap.
As she began to drift off, she sensed someone taking the seat beside her, accompanied by a fresh and pleasant aroma that tantalized her senses.

Curiosity piqued, she opened her eyes, only to find Nathan seated beside her.
Their gazes met, and for a fleeting moment, both were stunned.

When she had initially booked the flight tickets, her seat wasn’t adjacent to Benjamin’s. Her seat was next to the window, while Benjamin occupied a seat on the opposite side with an aisle between them.

Emma and Emily were taken aback by the unexpected turn of events, their expressions souring with displeasure.
“Nate, please, come sit up front,” Emma blurted out, unable to hide her agitation any longer. I won’t allow Nathan to sit next to that b*tch!
Nathan’s expression remained impassive as he tersely responded, “My seat is right here.”
Emma’s complexion paled, her hands tightening into fists as jealousy boiled within her.
