As silence finally settled, Olivia remained in her original seat. She reclined in her chair and closed her to catch up on some sleep.
Yet, despite her best efforts, sleep eluded her.

Turning away from him, she cautiously cracked open her eyes hidden behind dark sunglasses.
Reflecting on the recent exchange, she found herself having mixed emotions.
She hadn’t expected him to confront Emily just now. What on earth was that all about?
Nathan maintained his silence, subtly turning his head to observe Olivia’s movements from the corner of his eye.
Despite her back being turned to him, her demeanor clearly conveyed her discontent.
He frowned, recognizing that it was not the appropriate moment to engage in conversation, so he remained silent. Retrieving the documents he had brought along, he delved into their contents.
As the sound of pages being flipped reached her ears, Olivia couldn’t help but mutter inwardly, What a workaholic.
Listening to the rhythmic turning of pages, her mind inexplicably drifted back to a few years prior.
During that time, she had been constantly by his side, tending to his needs. She had never dared to sleep before him, always remaining vigilant by his side.
Occasionally, exhaustion would overwhelm her, causing her to inadvertently drift off, the same sound of flipping papers echoing in her ears.
Unbeknownst to her, the corners of Olivia’s mouth subtly curled into a smile as her thoughts wandered. Gradually, her eyelids grew heavy, succumbing to the pull of sleep.
She drifted off, the gentle hum of the airplane’s engines lulling her into a peaceful slumber.
As the aircraft taxied along the runway, its nose lifting for ascent, Olivia shifted in her seat, unconsciously adjusting her position to remain comfortable. Still asleep, she remained unaware of her movements. Her head gradually tilted to the side, eventually coming to rest directly on Nathan’s shoulder.
Feeling the sudden weight against his shoulder, Nathan stiffened, startled by the unexpected contact. Slowly turning his head, he discovered Olivia leaning against him. A flicker of surprise crossed his features.
His gaze slowly traversed her beautiful features, so close to his own. Olivia was deeply asleep, unaware that her sunglasses had slipped askew.
A faint smile tugged at the corners of Nathan’s mouth, his eyes betraying a hint of tenderness as he
observed her.
His gaze wandered over every detail of her face. He marveled at the length of her eyelashes and the flawless delicacy of her skin, devoid of visible imperfections.

Yet, she treaded carefully, wary of provoking Nathan’s ire.
Emily, attuned to Emma’s distress, tenderly clasped her hand, offering solace. “Don’t fret. No matter what happens, you’re my only daughter–in–law,” she reassured.
Her words served to assuage some of Emma’s anxiety.
“Five years ago, I managed to drive that woman away, and I can do it again,” Emily declared with a hint of determination. Scoffing, she added, “Rest assured, I’ll send her packing soon enough.”
Emma forced a smile. “Understood, Mrs. Carter.”
Despite her faith in Emily’s capabilities, doubts lingered in Emma’s mind. Will Nate allow Olivia to be driven away, as he had five years ago?
For reasons unknown, she couldn’t shake off the uneasiness that weighed on her heart.
Emma bit her lip, her gaze gloomy.
No, I can’t let this happen. I have to do something when we arrive in Attlewich. Otherwise, Nate would drift further and further away from me.
Roughly an hour later, the plane glided smoothly to a landing at the airport in Attlewich.
As Benjamin turned his head, his gaze fell upon Olivia, who was sound asleep, leaning against another man. Instantly, his expression darkened.
Meanwhile, Emma and Emily rose from their seats simultaneously, catching sight of Olivia resting on Nathan’s shoulder. They were both taken aback.
