Chapter 211 Keep Her In Check
As Nathan’s scrutinizing eyes moved from Emma’s conspicuously bandaged hand to Olivia’s unmistakably frosty demeanor, his voice, deep and resonant, broke the tense silence. “Can someone explain what exactly took place here?”
His examination seemed thorough, his intent seemingly to ascertain Olivia’s well–being.
Yet, Olivia interpreted his concern differently, feeling targeted by his inquiry. Her response was laced with a biting sarcasm, “Maybe you should direct that question to your fiancée.”
Emma, feeling the weight of Olivia’s stare, instinctively sought refuge behind Emily, her actions betraying her nervousness.
Olivia, her patience wearing thin, added with a hint of irritation, “Let’s just say your fiancée decided to make an unwelcome visit to my room at an entirely inappropriate hour. I simply escorted her out.”
Nathan’s expression darkened at Olivia’s account, turning his questioning gaze toward Emma “Why would you go into her Toom uninvited?”
‘Caught off–guard and bauling guilt, Emma’s voice was barely above a whisper. “I was just… dropping by to say hello. That’s
Her eyes flickered toward Olivia, her tone attempting to convey innocence. “I had no idea she would react so harshly. I suppose it’s my fault for not making my intentions clear,”
Olivia watched Emma’s performance with a mix of disbelief and nausea. The audacity of claiming a mere friendly visit after such a dramatic confrontation left her incredulous.
Nathan’s gaze landed on Olivia. Noticing her expression that seemed to convey a touch of mockery, he could roughly piece together what had happened.
As Nathan remained silent, Emma hastily added, “Please, Nathan, it’s not Olivia’s fault. I should have been more careful.”
Olivia’s response was an involuntary snort of derision.
Reflecting on Emma’s theatrical skills, she mused how Emma’s talents were wasted outside the entertainment industry.
In the past, Emma had been better at enduring in silence. Though she still engaged in clandestine maneuvers against Olivia, she had never been outright provocative.
Olivia found herself deeply repulsed by the spectacle, her interest in offering any further explanation entirely dissipated. Echoing Emma’s earlier remarks with a tone heavy with irony, she stated, “Indeed, you lost your footing. Next time, try not to make such a spectacle in the dead of night.”
Emma, taken aback by Olivia’s blunt rebuttal, felt a surge of injustice washing over her, prompting tears to form. “Olivia…” she began, only to be sharply cut off.
“Stop! Don’t use my name so casually!” Olivia interjected, her patience exhausted. Turning to Emily with unwavering resolve, she stated, “Don’t hold your breath for an apology. Even if I had physically removed her, an apology would be out of the question.”
Her declaration left no room for argument.
Frustrated and at a loss for words, Emily found herself unable to formulate a response.
Olivia deemed it crucial to set boundaries, to prevent future disturbances. With a calm yet firm tone, she addressed Nathan directly, “Mr. Carter, perhaps you could better manage your fiancée’s nocturnal escapades. It’s unseemly for her to be prowling about, causing such commotion as if she’s gone mad.”
Without waiting for Nathan’s reaction, Olivia retreated into her room, decisively closing the door behind her.

Emily shared in the outrage, her expectations of a more subdued encounter dashed by Olivia’s unabashed audacity. “Nathan, are you seeing this? How audacious of her!”
Directing her ire toward the closed door, Emily didn’t hold back. “Not only is her behavior deplorable, but she also lacks any semblance of regret.”
Nathan, however, seemed unmoved by their outrage. Turning to Emma with a steely gaze, he posed a pointed question, “Why were you in her room to begin with?”
Emma, caught off guard by Nathan’s line of inquiry, sensed an unsettling shift.
Didn’t he always side with me in the past? Why is he now scrutinizing my actions, rather than directing his disappointment toward Olivia?
