As Nathan observed her, his gaze became more thoughtful and intent. He mentally urged himself to remain patient, reminding himself that there would be ample opportunities in the future.
Throughout the sun–drenched afternoon, he dedicated his efforts to accompany Liam on his skiing endeavors
Initially, Liam’s attempts were marked by frequent falls, yet he never let out a cry of distress. Instead, he would promptly pick himself up and eagerly continue.
Over time, his perseverance paid off, and after about two hours of diligent practice, he began to ski independently, much to his own delight.
“Daddy, I’ve got it!”
Nathan was infected with a sense of warmth and pride that softened his gaze.
After allowing Liam a few more solo runs to bask in her newfound skill, Nathan decided it was time to conclude their skiing adventure for the day.
As they exited the ski area, Liam released Nathan’s hand, bounding into Olivia’s embrace with unrestrained joy.
“Mommy, do you think I was brave?” he asked, tilting his little face up toward Olivia.
“You were incredible, absolutely the bravest, Olivia responded, her laughter mingling with affection as she affectionately pinched Liam’s cheek.
“It’s all thanks to Daddy’s excellent teaching. Liam added, casting a glance back at Nathan with a smile.
Olivia, however, chose not to meet Nathan’s gaze, instead focusing on tidying Liam’s attire and softly inquiring, “Aren’t you a .bit cold?”
Though she didn’t look up at Nathan. Olivia was acutely aware of his presence, feeling an inexplicable whirlwind of emotions stirring within her heart.
Nathan, meanwhile, watched the interaction between mother and child quietly, his deep, dark eyes betraying a flicker of
tenderness.
“I’m not cold,” Liam quickly reassured, before pouting slightly, “I could have kept playing for another couple of hours if Daddy had let me.”
“There’s always next time for more fun.” Olivia soothed, gently ruffling Liam’s hair.
“Okay…” Liam reluctantly agreed, despite yearning for more playtime.
“Let’s head back now,” Nathan interjected, breaking his silence. “We’ve had a full day out. It might be nice to relax at the hotel this evening.”
Liam’s face fell momentarily at the suggestion, clearly disappointed at the prospect of returning to the hotel so soon.
Catching the hint of displeasure, Nathan offered a compromise with a raised eyebrow, “How about we take a stroll around the hotel after dinner?”
This proposal brought a smile back to Liam’s face, who nodded in agreement. “Okay, that sounds good!”
Olivia, for her part, had no objections, feeling somewhat chilled from sitting outside for an extended period
Together they mirrored their morning’s start, each holding one of Liam’s hands as they made their way back to the parking lot, enveloped in the warm glow of the setting sun.

To safeguard her interests, she had instructed her assistant to monitor Nathan’s activities closely.

With an urgency borne of worry, she demanded an update the moment she answered. “Well What happened!”

Her assistant, understanding the gravity of the situation, relayed a detailed account of Nathan’s day, explicitly noting his time spent with Olivia and Liam.
When she heard that Nathan had devoted his entire day to them. Emma’s expression twisted with envy and resentment.
Although she had mentally prepared herself beforehand, she was still unable to cope when she heard the news.
“Olivia!” she hissed, her face contorting with rage as the name slipped through her clenched teeth
The realization that Olivia and Liam were drawing Nathan’s attention filled her with dread. She feared that if she remained passive. Olivia might usurp her coveted position within the Carter family.
No way! I won’t allow that to happen. Only I can be the Carter family’s daughter–in–law!
