Chapter 217 Just Die

Attempting to maintain her composure, Emma’s voice took on a firm edge as she inquired. “Have you completed the task 1 set out for you?”
“Yes, I’ve captured everything on camera,”
A dark shadow flitted across Emma’s eyes, betraying a glimpse of the malice hidden within, as she coldly instructed. “Forward those photos to Emily, but make sure it’s done anonymously. After that, you’re free to retum to Emberfall.”
“Understood.”
With that, the assistant promptly followed Emma’s orders, sending the incriminating photos to Emily.
Emily, upon receiving notifications from an unknown sender, initially dismissed them as unsolicited marketing attempts and was inclined to ignore them. Yet, the persistent flow of messages piqued her curiosity, compelling her to take a closer look.
To her astonishment, the messages contained photographs.
The subjects were unmistakably Nathan, Olivia, and… their illegitimate child.
The sight took Emily aback, rooting her to the spot in shock. Once reality set in, rage quickly engulfed her, prompting her to immediately call Nathan.
The revelation that Nathan had chosen to remain in Attlewich specifically to be with Olivia and their child infuriated her.
Meanwhile, Nathan was enjoying a quiet movie night with Liam when his phone lit up with his mother’s call.
A frown marred his forehead at the sight of her name, his instinctive reluctance making him hesitant to pick up.
Yet, Emily’s persistence was relentless.
“I’ll go take a call, Nathan excused himself to Liam, phone in hand, and stepped out to the balcony for a bit of privacy.
No sooner had he answered the call than Emily’s accusatory tone barraged him, “Nathan, who exactly are you spending time
with?”
Nathan masking his irritation, coolly replied, “I’m with a client.”
Emily’s laughter was tinged with bitterness, her voice sharpening with each word. “With a client, you say? I find it astonishing how you’ve become so intimate with the very person responsible for your father’s death!”
The intensity of his mother’s wrath was palpable even through the digital connection, but Nathan wasn’t taken aback, nor was he surprised that his mother would be privy to his every move in Attlewich.
His silence, however, only served to amplify Emily’s rage. “You dismissed everyone just to be with her? Do you wish to see me dead as well!” she demanded, her voice crescendoing to a shout.
Nathan slightly pulled the phone away from his ear, his expression stoic, unfazed by the tirade.
Emily was visibly shaken by her own thoughts.
The memory of her husband’s untimely death at the hands of Olivia’s parents fueled a deep–seated anger within her.
Five years ago, I banished Olivia from our lives, and Nathan hadn’t objected. Throughout those years, Olivia’s name had never once crossed Aur lips. So why, after all this time, is he so fiercely protective of hert Why did he extend his stay in Attlewich just for her? Does he even knote what he’s doing?
The more Emily pondered, the more unbearable her thoughts became. She issued an ultimatum, “Nathan, if you have any respect left for me as your mother, come back to Emberfall immediately.”

Feeling a surge of frustration. Emily pressed on, her voice laced with desperation. “That woman is the daughter of the man who killed your father. How can you even think of being with her and…
She trailed off, unable to finish her thought
The memory of Olivia climbing into her son’s bed five years prior, coupled with her recent maneuvers, overwhelmed Emily with disgust.
Why didn’t she just die back then!
“I’m well aware of my boundaries.” Nathan replied frostily, ending the call abruptly.
Staggered by the conversation, Emily collapsed onto the couch, gasping for air. In a daze, she attempted to call him back. only to be greeted by an automated message indicating his phone was now off.
“Sorry, the number you have dialed is unavailable.
The realization that Nathan had turned off his phone sent Emily spiraling into a fit of uncontrollable fury, her face draining Jof color as she seethed with indignation.
