Chapter 222 My Duty
When Olivia returned to her room, she headed to the living room and sat down, her mind replaying everything that had transpired at the horse ranch.
Tn’t it my duty to protect you?
Nathan’s words seemed to echo again in her ears.
Suddenly, she felt a wave of agitation. Picking up her phone, she dialed Benjamin’s number.
Benjamin answered the call in no time. “Ms. Olivia.”
Olivia calmed herself down, asking in a nonchalant tone, “How did it go?”
Although her question wasn’t explicit, Benjamin, who had been by her side for years, instantly understood what she was inquiring about.
-Blair had already met with King, and King seems to be recovering well,” he said.
Listening to Benjamin’s report, Olivia finally smiled, saying, “Good.”
“Benjamin, are you
u on the phone with Olivia?”
Olivia’s smile widened when she heard King’s voice on the other end of the phone. King’s voice rang out again the next second.
He must’ve taken the phone from Benjamin.
“When are you a
and Liam planning to return to Emberfall?” asked King.
Olivia rose and moved to the window, her gaze falling on the hotel’s garden below “We should be back by tomorrow.”
King fell silent for a moment before speaking again. “I heard he’s in Attlewich, too.”
“King, he’s just Liam’s father. That’s all” Her tone was particularly solemn as if she was warning her own restless heart, too. Fearing he might probe further, she quickly changed the subject, asking, “How are you doing now?”
Dr. Anderson said I recovering fine.
“That’s good,” Olivia took a deep breath, then continued, “Let’s talk again after I return.
Then the hung up.
Clutching the phone tightly in her hand, she stared fixedly at the scenery below. Her beautiful eyes held complex emotions. Aught fell, the lights in the city lit

Nathan closed his laptop and set it aside.
Mr Caner, the restaurant reservation is all set, reported Ethan as he approached.
Nathan nodded slightly and got up to leave the room immediately without another word.

The moment the door opened. Liam dashed inside, throwing himself into Nathan’s arms. “Daddy”
The sudden impact caused Nathan to hit the back of his chair and grimace in pain.
Olivia noticed it and rushed forward to pull Liam away, admonishing. “Be careful. Your dad is still injured.”
Only then did Liam remember his dad’s wound and asked anxiously. “Daddy, are you okay?”
Nathan chuckled and shook his head. “I’m fine.”
He lifted the boy and placed him on the booster seat, then turned to instruct the waiter to serve the food.
After a moment of hesitation, Olivia took a seat across from him.
The private room was not large, adorned with a vintage charm. The warm, yellow light created a particularly cozy atmosphere.
Never in Olivia’s wildest dreams did she imagine she would have the chance to share such a luxurious meal with Nathan.
If it weren’t for Ham, they might have remained strangers for their entire lives.
After dinner. Nathan took Liam to the hotel’s terrace once again.
From there, they could take in the entire night view of Attlewich. Moreover, if they lifted their heads, they could see the night sky, which was filled with twinkling stars. It was exceptionally beautiful.
Even Liam, who had been to many countries, couldn’t help but exclaim in awe. “It’s so beautiful!”
Olivia stood behind them, her arms crossed, silently watching them. Unbeknownst to her, her eyes were filled with warmth.
Boom!
Brilliant fireworks blossomed in the night sky.
“Wow!” Liam widened his eyes, which reflected the colorful fireworks. It looked like there were stars shimmering in his eyes.
The fireworks continued adorning the night sky, and Olivia smiled captivated by the beautiful sight.
She could barely remember when was the last time she watched fireworks.
