Silence filled the air.
Olivia quickly regained her composure and asked. “What’s wrong?”
Nathan did not respond and simply tightened his grip on her wrist.
Feeling the warmth from his palm, Olivia instinctively tried to pull away.
“Td like a sip of water.” His deep voice echoed beside her ear.
Olivia reverted to her indifferent demeanor after processing his words. “Okay.”
Then, she gently removed his hand and turned around to pour some water.
Nathan’s gaze followed her constantly, as if he wanted to etch her slender figure deep into his memory
After pouring water, Olivia turned and was surprised to find herself locked in his profound, dark gaze.
Her heart skipped a beat.
She lowered her gaze and briskly walked over.
To make it easier for him to drink, she helped him sit up.
Her fingers must’ve brushed against the wound on his shoulder in the process, causing him to gasp in pain.
Olivia quickly lifted her gaze to examine him, only to find him grimacing in agony.
“Does it hurt?” she asked.
Nathan nodded. “Yeah.”
in reality, his senses were already numbed by the pain in his chest, so much so that he couldn’t feel the pain in his shoulder.
He simply responded to her subconsciously.
Subsequently, he added, “It’s time to apply the medicine.”
Apply the medicine, huh?
Biting her lower lip, Olivia fell silent. If possible, she didn’t want to help him apply the medicine.
“Drink some water first. I’ll help you apply the medicine later,” she said, just when Nathan thought she’d refuse.
Surprisingly, she didn’t reject it.
A sense of relief washed over Nathan, a faint smile surfacing on his face.
After he drank water, Olivia fetched a pillow and placed it behind him, making sure he was comfortable.
Then, she reached out to unbutton his shirt.
She didn’t want to be too close to him, so she stretched out her arms and straightened her back rigidly. Her posture looked inexplicably amusing.
Nathan arched his eyebrow and said, “Don’t worry. Even if I wanted to touch you, I wouldn’t have the strength to do so.”

Olivia’s breath hitched. “You okay with this?” she asked, concerned that he might not be able to sit up straight for too long
Nathan closed his eyes, gently nodding
Olivia glanced at him to make sure he was fine, then quickly went to fetch the medicine
The doctor had prescribed an ointment meant to improve blood flow and reduce inflammation, which required some hands–on massaging.
She uncapped the ointment and was immediately hit by an overpowering medicinal scent that caused her to frown in disgust. Without a moment’s hesitation, she poured the ointment onto her palm
Then, rubbing her palms together to generate heat, she pressed them onto the large bruise on fix shoulder, gently massagin it to let the ointment seep in
The moment her palm made contact with his skin, a jolt ran down her spate, and she almost wanted to pull her hand back instinctively
But in the end, she managed to persevere.
She reminded herself not to let her thoughts wander, persuading herself to consider him as just an injured stranger, and all she did was extend a helping hand to him
She wasn’t sure if it was the heat from his wound or the effect of the medicine but she could distinctly feel a burning sensation where she was applying pressure.
The scorching sensation seeped right through her fingertips and into her heart.
Nathan had his eyes closed, and he could feel her hands gently rubbing his wound
The force she applied was just right, and it felt exceptionally comfortable.
