Chapter 245 Love And Hatred
Finished
Witnessing this scene, Ethan suddenly found himself at a loss for words.
Ethan could sense that Nathan had a very special regard for Olivia. Even within Mr. Carter’s heart, there are emotions concealed that he himself may not have been aware of. In the past, influenced by the indoctrination of Mrs. Carter, Mr. Carter harbored some resentment toward Ms. Olivia. However, in the five years that followed Ms. Olivia’s departure, I’ve personally witnessed Mr. Carter’s self- imposed isolation. Mr. Carter even descended into madness when he was unable to find Ms. Olivia. Initially, I thought Mr. Carter acted out of spite, but gradually, I realized that wasn’t the case. At the very least, to Mr. Carter, Ms. Olivia is an existence unlike any other.
Watching Nathan recklessly downing alcohol, Ethan felt his heart in his throat.
It was rather odd that Mr. Carter’s illness had struck earlier than expected, especially given that his body hadn’t fully recovered yet. He certainly can’t afford to be in such a state! Ethan was nearly driven to desperation, yet he didn’t dare to step forward and intervene again.
Ethan knew that Nathan was truly suffering. Despite appearing to be an overwhelmingly powerful figure, masterfully orchestrating strategies and plans, who could have known that his soul was actually steeped in torment? Hatred and love can never coexist in harmony!
Apart from Ethan, no one could comprehend Nathan’s struggles.
Ethan even felt like everyone was pressuring Nathan. The pressures are mounting for Mr. Carter… These pressures are from Mrs. Carter, the Patel family, and a whole host of other assorted matters. If it weren’t for his resilient heart, he would have collapsed long ago..
“Ah!”
With a heavy sigh, Ethan glanced at Nathan, who was still drinking, before he turned away and made a phone call to the family doctor.
Ethan wanted the family doctor to be at Beverly Hills and on standby at any time.
He was afraid that if Nathan continued drinking in that manner, something bad might happen.
Hence, having a doctor around was more reassuring.
Perhaps it was due to his emotional state, Nathan found himself intoxicated after just one bottle of wine. He hung his head in
silence.
Ethan walked over and gently called out, “Mr. Carter?”
There was no response.
Ethan quickly helped Nathan upstairs to rest in the room.
That night, Nathan had a particularly lengthy dream.
In his dream, Olivia wept, asking, “Why are you treating me this way? It’s clear that it wasn’t my parents who caused Mr. Daniel’s death.”
“I despise you, Nathan.”
In his dream, Nathan even heard Liam saying, “Daddy, you’ve really let me down.”
Nathan’s eyes were tightly shut, his lips murmuring incessantly, “Liam…”
Hearing a commotion, Ethan rushed over to see what was happening. There, lie saw Nathan’s forehead glistening with tiny brads of sweat. At the same time, Nathan’s brows were furrowed, and his face was ghostly pale, clearly in a great deal of pain.
A jolt of surprise shot through Ethan’s heart. Hurriedly, he reached out to touch Nathan’s forehead, but he recoiled as soon as he made contact. Why is it so hot!

Upon seeing this, Ethan knew for certain that the illness had struck again, which scared him to the point of turning pale. It’s all over! It’s all over! The thing I’ve been worrying about is happening!
Right then, the doctor walked in hurriedly.
“Hurry! Hurry! Mr. Carter is in great discomfort,” Ethan urged.
The surrounding noise was chaotic, making it difficult for Nathan to open his eyes. When he finally managed to, he saw Ethan and called out, “Ethan!”
Hearing that, Ethan swiftly turned around. Seeing Nathan awake, Ethan hurried over, anxiously asking. “Mr. Carter, how are you feeling? Are you in pain again?”
Nathan gently hummed in agreement, but soon after, his heart was seized by a sudden, piercing pain, as if he was being pricked by countless needles.
Nathan then took a sharp intake of breath, his face growing even paler.
“Mr. Carter!” Ethan was filled with regret, wishing he had stopped Nathan from drinking the night before.
After the doctor’s examination, it was confirmed that Nathan had a fever. He was extremely weak, his breath faint.
However, the doctor was at a loss over Nathan’s angina, and he could only administer an IV drip to reduce Nathan’s fever first.
