Chapter 246 So Heartless
Seeing Nathan in such agony, Ethan was intensely distressed. “No! We must go to the hospital.”
“I’m not going,” Nathan said, his eyes closed, his voice sounding incredibly weak.
“Mr. Carter…”
Ethan wanted to persuade Nathan, but the former was cut off before he could finish his sentence. “Ethan, you know it as well. Going to the hospital won’t help,” Nathan said.
“But…” Ethan was so anxious that he was on the verge of tears.
At that moment, Nathan opened his eyes and looked at Ethan, saying softly, “Don’t tell anyone about my illness, not even Mrs. Carter.”
Ethan’s brows furrowed when he heard that. Although he felt that something was off, he couldn’t go against the orders he was given. So, he simply nodded and said, “Understood.”
Perhaps due to the IV drip, Nathan gradually calmed down and fell back asleep.
After some thought, Ethan decided that letting things continue this way was not a solution. Therefore, he specifically made a trip to Scenica Bay.
Early in the morning, Olivia woke up with a persistent twitch in her eyelid. She assumed it was due to a lack of sleep from the night before, so she didn’t pay it much mind.
It wasn’t until Ethan arrived, informing her that Nathan had another episode.
She was taken aback. A bitter smile soon tugged at the corner of her lips. Wasn’t he just fine last night, negotiating terms with me? Why did it happen again today?
With a skeptical look, Olivia glanced at Ethan. “You’re not tricking me into seeing him, are you?”
“Ms. Olivia, how could I dare to deceive you in such a matter?” Ethan said, caught between laughter and tears.
Even if he had ten times the courage, he wouldn’t dare to joke about Nathan’s health.
Olivia gave him a nonchalant glance and said, “I’m not a doctor, so coming to me won’t do you any good.”
With a bitter smile, Ethan acknowledged that she wasn’t a doctor. He knew that, but he was certain that Nathan’s pain would lessen with her presence.
“Ms. Olivia, I was hoping to ask William to speak with Mr. Carter. Perhaps if William persuades him, Mr. Carter might agree to go to the hospital.” After that, Ethan hesitated for a moment before continuing, “If possible, it would be great if you could come along.”
Gazing down, Olivia clenched her fists tightly, her eyes narrowing slightly. She asked, “Is it really serious?”
“Yes. You’ve seen firsthand what Mr. Carter is like when his illness acts out, just like that night.”
At that moment, Liam came running down from upstairs. His eyes widened in surprise when he saw Ethan. “Mr. Ethan, what brings you here?”
Ethan looked at Olivia, uncertain if he could be honest with Liam.
Olivia crouched down, adjusting Liam’s collar gently. She softly said, “Your daddy is ill. Mr. Ethan is here to take you to him.”
“Daddy is sick?” Liam’s face changed instantly as he turned to look at Ethan, anxiously asking. “Mr. Ethan, how could Daddy fall it!?

Liam was on the verge of tears, clutching onto Olivia’s hand in desperation.
“No. It’s due to other reasons,” Olivia comforted him in a soft voice.
“Mommy, shall we go see Daddy together?”
“I won’t be going. You go with Mr. Ethan,” she said.
Upon hearing this, Ethan quickly said, “Ms. Olivia, please join us as well.”

Olivia straightened up, letting out a self–deprecating laugh. “It’s not appropriate for me to go. After all, he and I have no connection.”
Upon hearing these words, Ethan felt a deep discomfort, a sense of injustice for Nathan stirring within his heart. How could she be so heartless? Is she not aware of Mr. Carter’s feelings for her?
Ethan almost voiced those questions, but in the end, he managed to hold them back.
From his perspective, he couldn’t criticize her. All he could do was nod at her, saying, “I’ll take William home, then.”
As soon as they left. Olivia immediately dialed Harry’s number.
Dr. Anderson, please find a way to treat him as soon as possible,” she said.
