Emily flew into a rage. “This is my family’s hospital. Why can’t I visit?”
As she spoke, she attempted to barge in, but the hospital staff managed to stop her in her tracks. “We’re sorry, but we are merely following our superior’s order.”
“Very well, excellent,” Emily laughed from exasperation. In a stern voice, she demanded, “Summon the director of the hospital over! I’m curious to see who gave him the audacity to issue such an order.”
Before long, the director hurriedly approached Emily. “Mrs. Carter, how come you’re here?”
Emily scoffed. “Had I not come, I wouldn’t have known how bold you’ve become, daring to prevent me from seeing my own son.”
The director gave a wry smile. “Mrs. Carter, you’ve misunderstood. Do you really think I would have the audacity to stop you?”
“In that case, allow me to go in, then.”
“That won’t do, Mrs. Carter,” the director said. His forehead was drenched in cold sweat, yet he braced himself and continued, “This is an order from Dr. Anderson.”
“Dr. Anderson?” Emily furrowed her brows. “Which daredevil of a doctor is he?
“Dr. Anderson is a renowned figure in the medical field, specializing in diagnosing and treating complex and challenging diseases.”
Upon hearing that, Emily finally understood the situation. Still, she was fuming with anger. “Even if he is a renowned doctor, he shouldn’t prevent a mother from visiting her own son, right?”
“Mrs. Carter, please, don’t make this difficult for me,” the director pleaded.
At that moment, Ethan hurried over and persuaded, “Mrs. Carter, you should go
back.”
“I won’t leave before I get to see Nate.” Emily was firm in her stance.
Irritated, Ethan questioned Emily bluntly, “Do you know that Mr. Carter fell ill after having that chat with you the other day?”

Ethan curled his lips, a flash of scorn flickering in his eyes. How could Dr. Anderson possibly agree to see her? He even refused to meet with the chairman, let alone her.
“Please, Mr. Thompson,” Emma pleaded resolutely, wrapping her arms around Emily’s. “If we don’t get to see Dr. Anderson or Nate today, Mrs. Carter and I won’t leave.”
“Why are you doing this?” Seeing her persistence, Ethan could only reluctantly agree, “Fine. I’ll take you to meet Dr. Anderson, but I can’t guarantee what might happen.”
“It’s all right.” Emma was under the assumption that she would be able to see Nathan after meeting Harry.
