Harry was engrossed in his work inside the laboratory when someone suddenly knocked on the door.
He furrowed his brows in displeasure. Didn’t I make it clear that no one should disturb me while I’m working?
“Dr. Anderson, it’s me,” Ethan said as he pushed the door open to enter.
“What’s the matter?” Harry removed his gloves and turned around.
At that moment, he noticed two women standing outside the door, his brow furrowing even more deeply. “Who are they?”
“Mr. Carter’s mother.” Ethan completely disregarded Emma.
“Dr. Anderson.” Emma hurriedly stepped forward to enter as soon as she caught sight of Harry.
“Hold it!” Harry commanded. This is a laboratory. Not just anyone can waltz in here.
Emma chuckled awkwardly and retracted her foot. “Dr. Anderson, I’m sorry. I didn’t know—”
Before she could finish her sentence, Harry interrupted her coldly, “Do you need something?”
Having his research interrupted halfway, Harry was in a sour mood at that instant. Consequently, his tone was rather unpleasant as he spoke.
Although Emma was entirely dissatisfied internally, she still managed to maintain a gentle smile on her face. She said, “Dr. Anderson, I am Nate’s fiancée. I would like to request that you let us meet with Nate.”
So, she’s Nathan’s rumored fiancée. Harry’s eyebrows lifted slightly. Not only does Nate have a son, but he also has a fiancée. In that case, what exactly is the relationship between the pretty lady and him?
Upon seeing his lack of response, Emma hurriedly added, “I’m truly worried about Nate. Could you please let me have a glimpse of him? Just a glance. I beg you!”
She pouted slightly, displaying a pitiful expression as though she had been wronged. I refuse to believe that there’s a man who wouldn’t fall for this.
Rolling his eyes, Harry didn’t mince his words and promptly presented Emma with two options.
“It’s either I leave now, refuse to treat Nathan, and allow you to visit him…” At that point, he narrowed his eyes, and his expression turned cold as he continued, “Or you leave now and stop interfering with my work on finding a cure for Nathan!
Emma hadn’t expected him to be so unyielding, even going as far as threatening them. Does he really take himself for a big deal?
Anger surged within her, and she could no longer hold back. Pointing at Harry, Emma rebuked, “What kind of doctor do you think you are?”
“Oh? What kind of doctor would you say I am?” Harry wasn’t upset. He looked at her with a half–smile and an icy look.
Overwhelmed by Harry’s aura, Emma felt slightly uneasy. She quickly clenched her fists, lifted her chin, and continued to complain, “I’ve never seen a doctor like you! Isn’t it normal for family members to visit the patient? On what grounds are you not letting us see Nate!”
She firmly believed that a doctor had no right to prevent family members from visiting patients.
“On what grounds?” Harry laughed mirthlessly. “Here, I make the rules. Whether you choose to follow them or not, it doesn’t concern me!”
He intentionally enunciated the words “it doesn’t concern me” to convey his anger at that moment.
He simply wanted to investigate the virus within Nathan’s body in peace. Any undiscerning person who dared to disturb him was merely asking for a scolding,

In that case, no one would be able to cure Nathan’s condition.
And so, he raised his voice and reprimanded, “That’s enough, Ms. Patel!”

Emma thought she must have misheard. She turned her head and looked at Ethan in disbelief. “Ethan, are you scolding me?”
Ethan didn’t respond. Instead, he asked, “If Dr. Anderson really decides to walk away and refuses to treat Mr. Carter, can you bear the responsibility?”
