Chapter 258 The Hatred Never Ceased
At the thought of Liam, Olivia was reminded of Nathan as well. The fifteenth of August is also the death anniversary of his father, Mr. Daniel.
The weight on Olivia’s heart grew heavier as memories of the past flooded her mind in an instant.
In the past, every year, the fifteenth of August was an incredibly agonizing day for her.
She had to face Emily’s relentless barrage of insults and Nathan’s bad temper.
Back then, Nathan, just like Emily, harbored resentment toward her.
Yet, they seemed to have forgotten that her parents were also dead. Regardless of what the truth was, they had never shown her even the slightest bit of compassion.
At this thought, Olivia felt a lump forming in her throat. Looking back, I was so naive five years ago, believing that my atonement could alleviate their hatred toward my parents and me. However, it seems that their hatred has never ceased. I was too naive back then, but everything is in the past now. I’m no longer the Olivia of the past.
She recollected herself and finished the tasks at hand before going to the kindergarten to pick up Liam.
“Mommy!” The moment Liam saw Olivia, he joyfully ran toward her.
Olivia scooped him up in her arms, gently wiped away his sweat, and asked, “How was your day at kindergarten?”
“Not bad.” Liam tilted his head in thought. “But, I’ve been worried about Daddy all day.”
At the mention of Nathan, Olivia’s expression momentarily stiffened. Nevertheless, she quickly pulled herself together and offered a slight smile. “Your daddy is staying in the hospital. With doctors around, he’ll be fine.”
“Okay.” Liam dropped his head and mumbled, “Mommy, aren’t you worried about Daddy?”
Olivia lifted him into the car and fastened his seatbelt securely. Then, she gently patted his head and said, “I’m not a doctor, so worrying won’t help, won’t it?”
“Mommy, can you come with me to see Daddy, then?” Liam blinked his big eyes, looking at her with anticipation.
“I won’t be going,” Olivia said with a smile. “I still have work to handle. I’ll ask Mr. Hayes to take you there.”
She didn’t want to go at all, primarily because she couldn’t face Nathan, especially with Daniel’s death anniversary approaching.
Olivia figured Nathan’s mood would undoubtedly turn sour if he were to see her.
“But I want you to come with me, Mommy.” Liam tugged at her hand.
“Be good. I’ll accompany you over when I’m free.”
Liam realized that his mother was really not going, and he couldn’t help but feel a bit disappointed. He had originally planned to coax his mother into meeting his father. Unfortunately, his plan didn’t work out.
Olivia had Benjamin head to the hospital first while she stayed in the car. She watched as Benjamin led Liam into the hospital, her gaze filled with complex emotions.
When Nathan saw Liam, a faint smile spread across his initially impassive, handsome face.
“Daddy.” Liam scampered over, tilting his small face upward to examine his father’s face. With a tone full of concern, he asked, “Daddy, are you feeling any better?”
“Yes.” Nathan helped his son straighten his slightly disheveled hair, then lifted his gaze toward the door.

Liam shook his head “No. Mommy said she won’t be coming because she’s busy.”

“Oh” Nathan didn’t say anything else. I doubt that being busy is the only reason she’s not coming. There should be another reason. Her parents‘ death anniversary is approaching, so she must be feeling quite down
Liam noticed Nathan’s silence. Unsure of what was on his father’s mind, he assumed Nathan was disappointed that Olivia didn’t come. Therefore, Liam said, “Daddy, Mommy mentioned that she would to see you when she has time
Returning to his senses, Nathan chuckled lightly and caressed Liam’s cheek. “Is that so?”
“Yes” Liam nodded firmly
Nathan grinned as he pulled Liam into his embrace. While Nathan’s fac countenance gradually faded.
