Chapter 260 I Miss You
Ethan was taken aback. Mrs. Carter and Ms. Patel are incredibly persistent. Despite Mr. Carter’s clear refusal, Ms. Patel still shamelessly insists on staying to take care of him.
Emma hadn’t expected Nathan to lose his temper. She was wearing a scowl on her face, one that was a mix of resentment and anger.
Does he really hate me that much?
Emily had never been subjected to such disrespect before. In an instant, her face flushed red with anger, ready to lash out.
In response, Ethan quickly spoke up. “Mrs. Carter, Mr. Carter’s health has just taken a turn for the better, but he’s not fully recovered yet. If you wish for him to live a few more years, I’d appreciate it if you could refrain from criticizing him!”
His words reminded Emily of the fact that her son’s illness was a result of her own words that day. She instantly swallowed the harsh words she was about to say, forcefully suppressing her dissatisfaction.
“Fine, if you insist on not letting Emma stay to take care of you, that’s your choice. But remember, she’s the only daughter–in- law I acknowledge.”
After she spoke, she glared at the sullen–looking Nathan, then turned and stormed off.
“Mrs. Carter!” Upon seeing Emily leave, all Emma could do was follow.
Before she left, she reminded Nathan, “Nate, if you ever need anything, feel free to call me. I can come over anytime.”
Nonetheless, Emma knew that her words were in vain, as there was no chance she would receive his call.
Once outside, Emily was waiting for her.
“Mrs. Carter.” She walked over and called out obediently.
Emily looked at her, aware that she had been embarrassed today. She took the latter’s hand, gave it a gentle pat, and comforted her, “Nate is like that. You shouldn’t take it to heart.”
“Mrs. Carter, don’t worry.” Emma managed to squeeze out a smile. “I won’t take it to heart.”
“That’s good. I’ll find an opportunity to talk to him again.”
“Thank you, Mrs. Carter.”
Emma watched as Emily’s car drove off into the distance, her smile fading as an insidious expression crept onto her face.
Before, it was unthinkable for Nathan to treat me in such a way. However, everything changed after that despicable Olivia returned. That’s it. This is all her fault!
Emma clenched her fists, resentment welling up within her as her expression turned somber.
She was determined not to let Olivia get the better of her.
When Olivia learned from Liam that Nathan had been discharged from the hospital, she inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief.
However, she didn’t reach out to Harry again. After all, she had done everything she was supposed to. She had repaid her debt of gratitude, and anything beyond that was no longer her concern.
She took a deep breath, a slight curve forming at the corners of her mouth.
Indeed, this is no longer my concern.

On the other end of the line, Lucas smiled upon detecting the jovialness in her tone. “Would you believe me if I said I miss you?” he asked.
“Of course I won’t.”
Lucas let out a hearty laugh, then said, “You’re right about that. I just wanted to ask you if you would like to accompany me to a dinner tonight?”
“A dinner?” Olivia slightly furrowed her brows.
“Right, it was a dinner event hosted by Mr. Lowell of Aetherion Group.”
Olivia had heard of Aetherion Group before but still found it quite strange that Lucas had invited her.
Upon hearing her question, Lucas couldn’t help but roll his eyes, responding rather irritably, “Obviously, King ordered it! He’s gone back to his country and is worried about you.”
“You’re just going to do whatever he tells you to?” Olivia couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Do you think I have a choice?”
Lucas‘ retort deepened the smile on Olivia’s lips. She composed herself and asked, “Let’s get down to business. Is there anything special about Aetherion Group?”
She had heard of the company before, but she wasn’t very familiar with it, especially since she had just came back.
