Olivia furrowed her brows, recalling how unreliable Lucas‘ words were, a thought that caused her to not keep her hopes up.

“Numerous bugs?” Olivia pondered for a while, then said, “Actually, Horizon Ventures has a pretty impressive track record in system maintenance.”
Her words were exactly what Caleb wanted to hear. Thus, he quickly responded, “If only that company was as capable as yours, I wouldn’t be so worried.”
It appeared that both parties were interested in collaborating.
Thus, Olivia felt that her attendance at the dinner was well worth it, as she had secured another business deal.
Meanwhile, Emma gracefully made her entrance.
Upon seeing her, Caleb immediately approached, his demeanor incredibly eager. “Emma, I thought you weren’t going to show up,” he said.
Upon seeing this, both Olivia and Lucas were taken aback.
It seems like these two are quite familiar with each other.
Lucas turned to someone beside him, asking. “What’s Mr. Lowell’s connection to Ms. Patel!”
Though his question wasn’t articulated very clearly, the bystander understood his intent. With a chuckle, they said, “Mr. Lowell has had a thing for Ms. Patel for quite a while now. They were actually classmates, you know.”

He wasn’t aware of who would be attending the dinner that night. However, had he known that Emma would be there, he would not have brought Olivia along.
Emma took her seat, her gaze unintentionally falling upon Olivia. At the sight, her face, adorned with intricate makeup, immediately darkened.
“Caleb, didn’t you say today’s gathering was just for those in our circle?” she asked sarcastically.

Subconsciously, Olivia tightened her grip, a chill washing over her beautiful face.
Caleb was puzzled. “That’s right. Is something wrong?”
He glanced around at the guests; all of them were indeed from their circle.
“How did such a despicable woman sneak in!” Emma sneered, throwing a disdainful gaze at Olivia

All of them wondered if Emma was talking about the general manager of Horizon Ventures.
Olivia knew that Emma was deliberately picking a fight, so she decided to ignore the latter.
Lucas, however, couldn’t contain his emotions. He asked with a spigger, “I wonder which servant Ms. Patel is referring to? Everyone present here is someone illustrious. Your words, I must say, are somewhat slanderous.”

However, Emma was unfazed. She casually brushed away a stray fringe from her cheek, her lips curving into a smile. “I think you know exactly who I’m talking about, Mr. Martinez.”
Lucas stared at her with a cold gaze, remaining silent.
“Some people, no matter how well they reinvent themselves, can’t hide their lowly background. Isn’t that right, Ms. Monroe?” She turned to look at Olivia, her eyes glinting with unmistakable malice.
Olivia froze as she met Emma’s gaze in a standoff.
In truth, she had long grown accustomed to Emma’s constant attacks. However, the special circumstances of that evening had left her feeling somewhat annoyed.
Emma’s intention was to embarrass her, and it was clear that the former had achieved her goal.
Those who had initially treated her with courtesy clearly changed the way they looked at her.
Moreover, Caleb sternly questioned Lucas, “Mr. Martinez, I hold you in high regard, but what on earth is going on here?”

“Mr. Lowell.” She looked at Caleb with an impassive expression, seemingly unaffected by Emma’s words.
Caleb furrowed his brows.
She continued. “It seems there’s no hope for a partnership between our companies.”
Her mention of the topic reminded Caleb of their earlier conversation. Since it was Horizon Ventures he was missing out on, he couldn’t help but feel a twinge of regret.
He glanced at Emma and sighed inwardly, realizing that the one he loved still mattered the most.

Olivia gave him a slight nod. “I’m sorry to have imposed on you tonight. We’ll take our leave now.”
As she spoke, she gave Lucas a tug, signaling for him to come along.

Upon her insistence, Lucas had no choice but to stand up.
At that moment, everyone found it peculiar as to why Lucas, given his status, had such a good relationship with a servant.
