Chapter 280 Cherishing Fate
Upon hearing this, Olivia fell into silence.
Nathan is indeed exceptional, and there is no doubt about that. Entrusting my life to him could perhaps be the right choice.
However… that person couldn’t possibly be me.
As she thought about this, an inexplicable sense of unease welled up in her heart
A bitter smile surfaced on her lips. This was a fact he had known from before, wasn’t it?
She didn’t want to continue with this topic any longer. Swiftly changing the subject, she said, “I’ll bring out the food.”
Before Holly could react, the person carrying the dish hastily left, as if escaping.
Holly turned to catch a glimpse of her retreating figure, chuckling and shaking her head, not particularly bothered by it
After having lunch, Olivia accompanied Liam for an afternoon nap. By the time they woke up, it was already past four.
Stepping out of the room, she saw Nathan enjoying coffee with Sophocles. Despite the significant age difference, they seemed to be having quite a pleasant conversation.
Watching this scene, she couldn’t help but feel a bit dazed, as if she was seeing a glimpse of Nathan and Liam years into the future.
The thought flashed through her mind, startling her back to reality. She quickly raised her hand to touch her cheek, laughing in a mix of helplessness and frustration.
I’ve truly gone mad!
What was I thinking?
“Olivia, come here,” he commanded.
Sophocles’s voice echoed, prompting Olivia to quickly lift her head and meet Nathan’s darkened eyes directly.
She slightly shuddered.
She quickly lowered her gaze and briskly walked past
“Mr. Quill,” she called out sweetly.
“Have a seat and join me for a cup of coffee,” Sophocles invited her with a smile.
She intentionally chose a seat that was somewhat distant from Nathan.
“Here. Try the coffee brewed by Nate.”
Sophocles personally poured her a cup of coffee, which she hastily accepted. “Thank you.”
After she took a sip, Sophocles asked with a beaming smile, “How is it?”
“It’s…. It’s not bad.”
It must be said that the coffee made by Nathan was indeed impressive.
Sophocles glanced at her, then at Nathan, and spoke meaningfully. “Being with people is like drinking coffee. At first sip, it may taste bitter and astringent, but as you continue, the coffee becomes mild, just as tasteless as plain water. Therefore, don’t let bitterness or harshness keep you from interacting with others. Cherish the connections you have.”
It was during dinner that Olivia was still pondering over the words spoken by Sophocles,

“Old Mr. Quill, Old Mrs. Quill, please eat more.” With a sweet demeanor, Liam helped Sophocles and Holly take more servings of food.
“Liam, how come you’re so endearing?”
Unable to contain her fondness for him, Holly gently pinched his cheek
“Nate, this little guy is much more charming than you were back in the day,” Sophocles remarked, sighing when he mentioned the past. “Time really flies. You even have a son now.”
Once these words were spoken, an inexplicable silence filled the air.
Sophocles continued, “From now on, bring the little one over every weekend. I’ll personally teach him to write.”
Nathan and Olivia exchanged glances, then nodded. “All right
Later on, when the trio were about to leave, Holly handed Liam a monetary gift.
Olivia wanted to return it, but Holly glared at her. “This is a welcome gift for the child, not for you?”
She gave an awkward laugh, quickly urging Liam to express his thanks
On the way back, since Nathan had been drinking, he let Olivia drive the car
The car pulled up to Beverly Hills. Through the windshield, Olivia saw Emma pacing back and forth near the entrance.
It seemed as though she was also holding an insulated food jar in her hand.
The expression on Olivia’s face instantly turned somber.
Upon spotting the car, Emma hurried over. However, as she neared, she caught sight of Olivia in the driver’s seat, and her expression immediately transformed.
How did she end up with Nater
Nathan saw Emma outside the car, his eyebrows furrowed in surprise. He rolled down the window and asked, “What brings you here?”
His voice was distant and indifferent, subtly laced with an almost imperceptible hint of anger.
Sensing his unwelcoming demeanor, Emma bit her lip, forcing a thin smile onto her face. She said, “I made some soup.”
As she spoke, she lifted the thermos in her hand. “Didn’t you just get discharged from the hospital? I thought I’d bring this for you.”
