Upon seeing him neatly folding his hands on his lap and looking so well–behaved, Olivia felt a mix of amusement and exasperation.

After closing the backseat door, Olivia also hurried into the car. After starting the engine, she swiftly drove off.
She didn’t spare Emma another glance from start to finish.
Once the bothersome people had left, Emma walked over, a gentle smile playing on her lips. She said, “Nate, if you can’t finish this soup now, I can help you store it in the fridge. We can have the housekeeper warm it up for you tomorrow.”
Nathan lifted his hand to rub his forehead, turning his head. His gaze, devoid of warmth, fell upon her face, which was filled with eager appeasement. In his heart, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of disdain.
Tonight, he had had a few drinks. His head was a bit fuzzy, and he didn’t feel like wasting words with her.
