Sudden clarity washed over Emma as she looked at Nathan’s handsome face, shrouded in gloom. She quickly apologized. “Nate, I’m sorry. Im sorry. That’s not what I meant. Please, don’t be angry, all right?”
The usually haughty daughter from the Patel family only ever showed such humility in his presence.
“I promise… I’ll be mindful of my status in the future. You should rest early. Goodnight.”
After speaking, Emma wiped away her tears and turned around. The face that was previously filled with grievances instantly fell, a shadow of gloom lurking in her eyes.
She clenched her fist tightly, so much so that she didn’t even notice the pain from the insulated food jar handle digging into her paim.

After Emma left, Nathan went straight upstairs to rest, not giving her a second thought.
The next morning, Nathan went to Scenica Bay to pick up his car.
When the time came, Olivia and Liam were having their breakfast.
“Daddy, join us for the meal,” the little one enthusiastically invited him.
His gaze fell upon Olivia, who was silently eating her breakfast with her head lowered. A flicker of emotion crossed Nathan’s
face.
From the moment he walked through the door until now, she hadn’t even spared him a glance.

A hint of emotion, subtle and hard to detect, flickered in his dark eyes. He spoke slowly. “I’ve already eaten. Take your time with your meal,”
“Oh.” The little one seemed slightly disappointed but quickly bounced back, finishing off the remaining milk and fried egg at record speed.
“Mommy, let Daddy take me to kindergarten today,” he mumbled, his mouth full of food.
Still, Olivia heard it clearly. Without uttering a word, she slightly furrowed her brows, “Speak after you’ve swallowed your
food next time.”
The little one flashed a grin, and with a simple “okay,” he hopped down from his high chair. He walked over and took Nathan’s hand. “Daddy, let’s go.”
“The car keys are on the entryway cabinet,” Olivia said without lifting her head, her tone indifferent.
Nathan looked at her, a hint of amusement flickering in his eyes as he said, “Then, I’ll take Liam to kindergarten.”
Olivia hummed in agreement, not saying anything further.
Once they had left, she finally lifted her head, a bitter smile playing on her lips. Seeing him only served to remind her of Emma’s pitiful and affected demeanor from the night before.
Then, she started to feel a bit annoyed, not wanting to see him!
It seemed best for her to keep as much distance from him as possible.
After finishing her breakfast, Olivia went straight to the office. She was so busy throughout the day that she didn’t even have time to take a break. It wasn’t until the end of the workday that she finally had some downtime.

“Ms. Olivia, tomorrow’s already the fifteenth. He was worried she might forget, so he made a point to come over and remind her.
Olivia nodded. “Got it, I can head straight to the cemetery first thing tomorrow morning.”
“All right.” Benjamin nodded in agreement.
The following morning, it was as if the heavens had sensed her mood. The sky had lost the clarity of the previous few days. It was somewhat gloomy, almost as if it was about to rain.
The thought of paying respects to her parents today kept Olivia awake for most of the night..
“Ms. Olivia, are you all right?” Benjamin asked, worry evident in his voice as he noticed the dark circles under her eyes.
“I’m fine.” Olivia’s face was devoid of any trace of a smile, her mood heavily weighed down.
The little one, too, had changed from his usual demeanor, becoming particularly serious, no longer indulging in casual chatter or laughter.
Olivia had dressed him in a sleek black suit while she herself wore a black skirt. She put on her sunglasses, concealing the sorrow in her eyes.
She led Liam out the door, with Tony and Benjamin trailing behind them.
