Upon entering Horizon Ventures, Frederick was astounded!
He knew that the Wirthon branch offer had only been established recently, but he hadn’t anticipated that it would already be of such a significant size.
The decor was simple yet bright, and the employees were deeply engrossed in their work. It was truly far superior to anything at Monroe Group
Over the years, Monroe Group had been constantly downsized, far from the grandeur it once held.
“Mr. Monror, Ms. Monror would like to see you now.”
The secretary led him to the outside of the general manager’s office, opened the door, and gestured for him to enter.
“Thank you”
Frederick was also the CEO of a company, but in front of Olivia’s secretary, he seemned somewhat lacking in confidence.
After entering, Frederick saw Olivia sitting behind the desk, flipping through files. He couldn’t help but feel a bit dazed.
He had never imagined that within his lifetime, he would lay eyes on a refined and competent Olivia.
There was no longer any trace of the timid and shy girl she used to be.
“Uncle Frederick, please take a seat. I’ll finish up with these documents before we talk,” Olivia glanced up at him, her expression indifferent, her tone cool and detached.
“Sure, you go ahead with your work first.”
Frederick walked over and took a seat.
The office fell silent once again. Frederick turned his head to look at Olivia, who was engrossed in her work and nervously. rubbed his hands together.
After Olivia had finished dealing with the paperwork, she got up and walked over, taking a seat opposite him.
“Uncle Frederick, what brings you here today?”
With a dry chuckle, Frederick replied, “I happened to be passing by, so I thought I’d come up and see you.”
As he spoke, he looked around, his face filled with smiles. “I never thought you’d be the general manager of Horizon Ventures now,” he said.
Did he come just to see me?
Olivia couldn’t help but secretly scoff in her mind. How could she possibly believe such a clumsy excuse? And hadn’t he realized how insincere his laughter sounded?
She lowered her gaze, concealing the icy chill that lurked within her eyes. A slight smile curved at the corner of her lips as she spoke slowly. “I never thought you would want to see how my day was. I was under the impression that you didn’t want to see
me at all”
“How could that be? You are my dear niece after all.” Frederick quickly denied it.
“Really?” Olivia’s eyebrows lifted in surprise as she looked up, a bright smile gracing her features. “I must say. Uncle Frederick, I’m truly touched by your words.”
She emphasized the word ‘touched with deliberate intensity.
“Well.” Frederick let out a dry chuckle.

As he spoke, Frederick let out a heavy sigh, expressing his sorrow “I suppose your parents never imagined that Monroe Group would see such a day”
Olivia coldly took in his pretentious demeanor, a hint of mockery playing at the corners of her mouth.
As expected. Frederick’s visit was not without an ulterior motive.
Just as Benjamin had predicted, the moment they discovered her current identity, they immediately came looking for her.
Frederick, especially, was certainly in a hurry.
“That it was also their fault. If it weren’t for them, how could Monroe Group have been targeted by Carter Group back in the day? So now that you have the power, you must pay for what they did back then”
Olivia laughed, though her simile didn’t reach her icy eyes. “So… Unde Frederick, how should I pay for that?” she asked.
Upon hearing her words, Frederick assumed she had agreed. Havily, he said, “I don’t need you to do anything. I just fired you to prioritize the development of Monroe Group, you know! Just keep that in your mind!”
Keep that in my mind? Isn’t he just asking me to lend a helping hand to Monroe Group?
Olivia felt the irony was overwhelming. Even after so many years, the Monroe family remained as pragmatic as ever.
