“Uncle Frederick, I have other matters to attend to, I don’t have time to entertain you.” Olivia turned her head and gave a o look at Frederick, whose face was livid with anger.
The latter hadn’t expected that his act of swallowing his pride to seek her help would result in such an embarrassing rejection. He was suddenly overcome with frustration.
“Fine. Olivia, you’ve grown bold! Just you wait!”
After dropping a harsh remark, Frederick stormed off.
Olivia waved at his retreating figure. “Take care. I won’t see you off”
Once he left, Olivia let out a long sigh. Suppressing all her emotions, she turned to Benjamin with a calm demeanor and asked. “Could you look into the developments of Monroe Group over these past years for me?”
“Sure.” Benjamin hastily departed after that.
Olivia sat down, awry smile playing on her lips. Seeing the shamelessness of the Monroe family once again after so many years was still just as repulsive as she remembered.
Soon, the results of Benjamin’s investigation in the afternoon were revealed..
“Ms. Olivia, based on my investigation, Monroe Group was doing quite well five years ago, with several projects generating a steady stream of profits, particularly in the hotel and F&B industry
Monroe Group had its roots in the hotel industry, holding a significant position within the sector.
However, all of that was in the past.
Narrowing her eyes slightly, Olivia asked, “And then?”
“Over the past few years, their businesses started to falter, particularly their most profitable venture, the hotel and F&B service, which suffered continuous losses. A couple of years ago, the hotels and restaurants under Monroe Group were sold off at a low price by Frederick.”
Upon hearing this, Olivia couldn’t help but smile mockingly. “If even the hotels and restaurants were sold, what else could Monroe Group possibly profit from?”
Olivia had known for a while that Frederick lacked a knack for business, but she did not expect the situation to be this dire.
Benjamin replied, “Well, Frederick invested in several projects. He intended to make a profit, but instead, he nearly lost his company due to the losses.”
“What projects?”
“Earlier this year, Frederick had invested in a joint venture to produce medical equipment using nanotechnology. Unfortunately, he was scammed. Not only did he fail to recover his money, but all he got back was a pile of worthless junk.”
Olivia remained silent for quite a while before asking. “Is there more?”
“Also, there’s your cousin, Samantha. She’s in charge of a branch company, but she has no interest in running it. Instead of focusing on the business, she spends her days either inviting people for afternoon tea or shopping. She’s clearly not cut out for business.”
All of this fell within Olivia’s expectations, but she just hadn’t anticipated that the situation of Monroe Group would be even worse than she had imagined.
She couldn’t help but feel a pang of heartache. Monroe Group, which her parents had single–handedly built from scratch, had been completely ruined by Frederick and his family.

“Ms. Olivia, I’ve given it some thought. You’re better off not getting involved. Monroe Group is a bottomless pit!” Benjamin was worried she might let her soft heart convince her to help, so he thought a reminder was necessary.
Olivia turned her head to look at him, her eyebrows arching slightly. “Do you think I care?”
Benjamin didn’t give her a direct response. Instead, he said, “Because… funds were recklessly utilized, and now Monroe Group is left with a massive financial hole. It would take at least a hundred million to fill this gap. So, please think it over.”
Benjamin spread out all the research findings on the table. “You can take a look at the business performance of Monroe Group over the past few years.”
