Chapter 308 Melancholy
The following evening after work. Olivia drove herself to the Monroe residence.
Upon learning that she was heading to the Monroe residence, Benjamin had felt uneasy. He had suggested accompanying her for the visit, but she had declined.
There were things she had to face on her own.
However, she had asked Benjamin to help prepare a gift, a dessert that Norah was fond of
Upon arriving at the Monroe residence and entering the house, Olivia immediately noticed that Frederick’s family was also present.
A smug smile spread across Samantha’s face.

Olivia’s eyes sparkled subtly as she calmly walked up to Norah
“Grandma, this is a gift for you,” She handed the gift box to Norah.
After receiving it, Norah casually tossed it onto the table.
Olivia had expected it.
A hint of irony surfaced in her eyes. No matter how many years had passed, Norah still held such disdain for the gifts she had given her.
Norah scrutinized her with a shrewd and sharp gaze, her weather–beaten face devoid of any expression. She looked as though she was looking at a stranger.
“When did you get back? You didn’t even bother to visit!” Norah huffed, her face full of displeasure
Olivia lowered her head and replied in a calm and unhurried manner, “I’ve been too busy.”
“Busy?” Norah scoffed. Indeed, you seem to be quite busy. Your uncle mentioned that you’ve made quite a name for yourself in your career.”
Her harsh tone laced with sarcasm made Olivia feel very uncomfortable.
“Look at you, all dolled up. You look quite presentable
It looked as if Norah wasn’t at ease unless she talked this way. Olivia flashed a smirk and said straightforwardly, “Just get to the point. Why did you call me back?”
Her demeanor was somewhat aloof.
Samantha, fanning the flames from the sidelines, said, “Olivia, how could you speak to Grandma like that? It’s so impolite.”
Olivia looked at her, her gaze devoid of warmth. “Samantha, I don’t recall asking for your guidance on how I should speak.”
“You!” Samantha was momentarily at a loss for words.
“Enough,” Norah said, her displeasure evident as she cast a disapproving glance at Olivia. “She’s your cousin.”
Olivia maintained a composed expression, though inside she was laughing scornfully.
For as long as she could remember, Norah had always favored Samantha, showing a clear bias. In the past, whenever she had an argument with Samantha, she would be the only one who ended up being scolded.

family anymore.
Yet, she held back. She did not want to show weakness in front of them.
Finished
She was determined to show them that she was no longer the same young girl who could be easily pushed around like before.
“You’re aware of our family’s circumstances over the past few years, aren’t you? Norah lifted her gaze, staring at her coldly. “Now that you’re capable, lend a hand where you can. After all, you carry the blood of our family in your veins.
Olivia stood there silently. Her delicate face showed no signs of reaction to the words spoken because all of this was expected
Norah let out a sigh. “Monroe Group also embodies a part of your parents‘ hard work. Can you really bear to watch it decline day by day?”
“Yeah, Olivia, the Monroe family is really going through a tough time right now. If you could lend a hand, things would definitely improve,” Frederick chimed in “If your parents were still here, they would surely hope you could help out the Monroe family.”
Olivia really didn’t understand where they got the audacity to bring up her parents. After all, they were the ones who had turned their backs on her when her parents had gone missing.
Upon noticing her silence. Norah narrowed her eyes and said in a harsh cone, “Remember, even if you become successful. never forget where you came from Otherwise, you’re no different than an animal.”
