Having said those words, Olivia embraced Liam and shifted to the side, not intending to entangle with Nathan any further. She planned to exit the car from the other side.
Nathan grabbed her arm. “Where are you going?”
“Home,” Olivia replied coldly, simultaneously attempting to pull her hand away. However, Nathan’s grip was firm, and she could not break free.
Growing increasingly frustrated, Olivia demanded, “Let go!”
Observing her reaction, Nathan remained composed and softened his tone. “You can leave, but not now. At least wait until Liam wakes up! Given what happened today, Liam is likely to be sensitive. When he wakes up, he might seek me out! It was different from before when I wasn’t around. Now that I am here, I want him to be able to find me in times when he feels insecure. I hope you won’t deprive him of that!”
He paused briefly before adding, “I won’t bring up custody for now.”
Olivia was momentarily stunned by his words.
Suddenly, she recalled her childhood experiences, where she would seek her parents whenever she woke up frightened by a nightmare. Not finding them would leave her feeling desolate and heartbroken, lacking a safe haven to rely on.
Today, her son was hurt. He would most likely feel scared and insecure.
Liam murmured in his sleep, “I didn’t hit anyone… Mommy, Daddy… Why isn’t Daddy coming…”
Olivia’s heart ached. Her eyes welled up with tears. She gazed down at the sleeping child in her arms and whispered, “I’m here… Don’t be afraid. Everything will be okay.”
“I’m here too.” Nathan also reached out to comfort the child.
Liam suddenly calmed down, peacefully drifting back to sleep.
Observing this, Olivia fell into a thoughtful silence.
Nathan’s gaze shifted back to her face. He asked, “Can we go in now?”
Olivia lowered her gaze and replied, “No! I’ll wait here until Liam wakes up. Once he sees you and his emotions stabilize, I’ll take him home.”
Nathan’s expression darkened.
Last time, when she came to pick up Liam, she only stood at the front gate, refusing to enter. This time, she was reluctant to step out of the car.
Does she hate the place this much?
A deep displeasure rose in his eyes, but ultimately, he did not force her. He straightened up, calmly saying, “As you wish.”
Then, he closed the car door and entered the villa.
Olivia sat in the car. Her mind was in turmoil. This place brought too many memories for her.

It was once her sanctuary–the sole anchor in her tumultuous life. Due to a particular individual’s presence, she had felt a sense of belonging.
Yet, she eventually realized it was merely wishful thinking on her part. The man who gave her a sense of belonging could easily discard her at any moment.
A ‘sinner‘ like her was unworthy of this place.
Having vowed never to return, she had no desire to set foot in this place again, not a single step.
Perhaps due to the emotional upheaval of the day, Olivia felt weary, her head tilting back against the seat as she unknowingly drifted off to sleep.
Sometime later, sudden thunder rumbled outside. The raindrops drummed against the car in a rhythmic pattern.
Olivia jolted awake, opening her eyes to find the sky darkened. The villa glowed with lights. The lamps on the porch cast a bright, inviting glow.
A man stood on the porch. His white shirt gleamed under the lights. His tall and handsome figure created a striking silhouette.
At that moment, Olivia felt like she had entered a different time, as though the scene from five years ago was mirroring the present.
The man was noble and distinguished while she was wallowing in the mud.
One was esteemed as an angel, while the other was despised like a creature of the underworld…
